AVAILABILITY OF KITTENS
We usually have kittens available to loving homes between March and December. We rarely
have litters born during the Fall months due to the changing light patterns and colder
weather which signals all animals that Winter is coming, and decrease the likelihood of
matings. This is why so few kittens are available for placement between January and March
- few are born in late Fall and early Winter.
The best way to learn exactly what color and sex kittens we have available at any given
time is to Contact us.

HOW ARE EMERALD FOREST
KITTENS RAISED?
Emerald Forest's kittens are raised in a loving home environment - not a large
commercial cattery. To keep our kittens loving and of high quality, we limit the number of
kittens raised during the year.
Our kittens are underfoot and on the couch with access to the sights, sounds and fresh
air of our large country home, which they enjoy. Litters are born in a separate bedroom of
our home where only pregnant and nursing queens and their offspring live. Kittens will
romp and socialize with kittens of other litters their age. Then at 8 weeks they are given
their first set of vaccinations. Making them ready for their new homes. 10 weeks or older
if they are being shipped.

WHAT'S THE
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PET, BREEDER, AND SHOW QUALITY KITTENS?
Kittens that do not meet the Siberian breed standard closely enough to warrant their
use in a breeding program or their presentation at cat shows are considered 'pet quality'
and usually sold without breeding rights. Breeders consider structural qualities like head
type, body type, boning, and coat as well as color. BUT - many of our Show and Breeder
quality kittens are sold as "pet" since we would rather see them in loving
homes.
IS THERE
ANYTHING 'WRONG' WITH A PET QUALITY SIBERIAN?
Reasons for evaluating a Siberian kitten as 'pet quality' are usually related to the
breed standard, and these are quite different from 'genetic defects.'
These are aesthetic flaws in the cats conformation or build that prevent it from
meeting its breed standard. 'Genetic defects' are genetic malformations, or
genetically-caused disease, which affect a cat's health, soundness or temperament. An
example of this type of defect commonly found in many dog breeds would be hip dysplasia.
Fortunately, there are no known genetic defects in the Siberian breed at this time.

WHAT VACCINATIONS HAS A KITTEN RECEIVED?
By the time the kittens go home, all of our kittens have been given the primary
vaccines recommended for kittens. When you are ready to pickup (or ship) your cat, we will
discuss which series of shots are remaining (you are responsibile for these).

IS THERE ANY
DIFFERENCE IN THE PERSONALITIES OF MALES OR FEMALES?
In our opinion, there is no gender difference in the personalities of the cats. It is
our belief that being raised in a loving environment and knowing prior family history is
what determines how affectionate and people-oriented a kitten is, not its gender.
There is also no price difference for male versus female kittens.

WHAT
CONTRACT RESTRICTIONS DO YOU HAVE?
By signing our sales agreement for a pet quality kitten, a Buyer agrees to abide by the
following conditions of sale:
(1) that the kitten will be kept indoors at all times unless walking etc.
(2) that the kitten will be examined annually by a veterinarian and receive annual
vaccinations, dental cleanings, and other treatment as recommended by your veterinarian,
(3) that the kitten will be neutered or spayed at a safe age and not allowed to
reproduce,
(4) that the kitten will not be declawed without prior approval by the Breeder because
of the possible consequences of surgery which could include biting and poor litter box
habits,
(5) that the kitten will not be given innoculations which interfere with or suppress
its naturally functioning immune system, and
(6) that the Buyer agrees to contact Emerald Forest first in the event that the Buyer -
at any time during the cat's life - is unable to keep the cat. We will be happy to help
you find a new home for it.

WHAT
HEALTH OR REPLACEMENT GUARANTEES DO YOU PROVIDE?
We will replace a kitten if its premature death - within one year of age - is caused by
a genetic defect documented by veterinary diagnostic tests and laboratory results. We will
not replace kittens lost due to actions taken in violation of our sales agreement, such as
accidental deaths which occur as a result of being outdoors or deaths due to reactions
and/or disease caused by administration of vaccines prohibited by our agreement or abuse
by the owner.

WILL YOU SHIP A KITTEN AND IF SO,
HOW MUCH WILL THAT COST?
Yes, we will ship kittens, but you should realize that shipping costs are additional
and will add to the overall cost of your kitten. These costs are your responsibility. We
have estimated these costs for you as follows, based on expenses incurred in the past:
Veterinary Health Certificate and Rabies Vaccination .... $ free
Airline Approved Carrier................................................ $ 20.00 or
free
Priority Parcel Air Travel (Continental US) .............. $50.00 - $175.00
TOTAL SHIPPING COSTS........................................ $70.00 - $185.00
The price range for air travel depends on the airline carrier selected for shipping.
Priority Parcel Service (often called "Counter-to-Counter") is a service
provided by most airlines which ensures a greater degree of safety for traveling pets.
Your cat is one of the last items loaded onto the plane before takeoff, and one of the
first taken off the plane upon arrival. It is hand carried from the office onto and off of
the plane.
Newark International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, from which we generally ship
kittens requires a 50 mile road trip for us! Because of our distance from the airport, we
will have to work out the specific day and airline schedule carefully. All shipping
expenses including the purchase price of the kitten must be paid and a signed sales
contract, agreeing to our conditions of sale as specified above (neutering, etc.) must be
received before the kitten is shipped.

HOW DO I RESERVE A KITTEN?
As soon as a kitten's old enough for us to evaluate (usually between 4-8 weeks of age
for pets) the kitten becomes available for sale to the next person on our reserved waiting list.
The best way to reserve a kitten from us is to call and have a personal discussion with
us about your interest in Siberians. We will ask you many questions like whether you've
owned a cat before and how you decided a Siberian was the cat for you! At that time we can
also answer any questions you might have. If we reach a 'meeting of the minds' and have
the kitten you are looking for, we will be pleased to reserve a pet kitten for you with a
one hundred dollar deposit.
