| “Brownies Make Things” - Guides learn things - Rangers get out there and DO things!!
|
.....and Holderness Rangers are no exception! As Guides, we have already tried a lot of outdoor activities - canoeing and kayaking, sailing and windsurfing, climbing and abseiling, archery and fencing - so now we can decide which we enjoy most and spend more time on those activities, besides trying still more new things.
We are all experienced campers and some of the girls took their Patrol Camp Permits while they were Guides. Most of our camping as Guides was fairly local but as Rangers we have ventured further afield - we have been on an "adventure holiday" to south Wales, sailing the North Sea on the 'Audrey,' camping on the Mediterranean shores during an amazing water sports holiday and on a Division holiday to Switzerland. Several of us have been selected to represent our county at various International camps in Sweden, Poland, Finland, Scotland, Mexico and India!! (So if anyone says Guiding isn't "cool" we can say "With Guides we get to go to all sorts of amazing places - what did YOU do this summer?")
We also do our "bit" for our community, and enjoy working with the young and old, caring for our environment and helping with projects in the wider world.
