BCMB’s Board has just approved a pilot at its October 5th meeting to reduce sorts. ABDA President, Dave Custer, President Elect, Tim Mastel-Marr, and Jeff Linton, Executive Director of the ABDA have worked with representatives from ABCRC and the BCMB over the past 18 months to come up with a revised sorts schedule that will see 24 sorts from our present schedule reduced to 12. "The extra sorts represented a lot of unnecessary work for operators" notes Dave Custer who suggested the reduction in sorts will improve efficiency at the depot level. Tim Mastel-Marr estimated that as many as 5 pallet/bag positions on the floor could be eliminated saving operators valuable floor space. The primary focus was to combine some existing 0-500ml categories with 501-1L categories. The details around the new categories, commissions, and ship quantities will be presented in detail at AGM 2000.
