The forms that occur in and around Bahrain have been identified as

                 Barabensis  Cachinnans  and  Armenicus

                          Heuglini  Taimyrensis  and  Fuscus

It is doubtful if   Birulai  Vegae  Mongolicus  occur
I have added no comments to the photographs better that you judge the evidence yourselves to see what all the fuss is about.  Please note that the light here is harsh even in winter- birds do appear at least one FULL shade darker  however in many pictures Common Black-headed gulls can be found -- as most people are familiar with these -- use them as your starting point to judge depth of mantle colour etc or read.just a little insight

All the pictures were taken on either the morning of February 27th March 6th and March 20th 1998 at Askar just before I set off to survey the Hawar Islands. The weather on each day was about 20c plus very bright Feb 27 and Mar 06 but dull on the 20th The month indicated is correct - the number is indexed from the scanner. The camera I used was a OLYMPUS IS1000 -- automatic with intellegent zoom to 110mm with other no lense attached. - I was hiding in a cardboard Box -The scanner was an EASYPHOTO SMARTPAGE .. the pictures were scanned from prints not negatives.
