The Natal hinged tortoise is a small hingeback that dwells specifically "the Lebombo Range on the Mozsambique-Swaziland border, south through western Zululand to Greytown, Natal" (Broadley, 1981). One way to recognize this species from Kinixys belliana is that K. natalensis psosess a hooked upper jaw that is tricuspid. This means that the tortoise appears to have three little "teeth" (no turtles have real teeth. I do not know anything about the care of this species. If someone would like to email, that would be great!
Kinixys natalensis lives on dry slopes, thickets and grasslands in its home in Africa.
