Rhinolophus mehelyi:
This species is very poorly known due to its confusion with R.euryale and R.hipposideros. It has the greatest length of skull 19.1-20.5, Lancet tapered abruptly with a concave base. connecting process of sella short and acutely pointed. weak sagittal crest. the range of species is Portugal, Spain, France, Rumania, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Greece, Trans-caucasia, Morocco to Libya , Mediterranean island, Iran, Afghanistan, Asia minor, Palestine and Egypt. Females appear to have longer forearm measurement where as males have larger skull measurements. Same to R.euryale these bats were found in hibernation caves from September to November. The single record of this species is from An Naqah In Wadi Arabah. This locality is close to eastern mountains overlooking Wadi Arabaah and close to the southern shores of the Dead Sea. Irrigation canal and small dams are in close proximity to the collecting site. ( Amr 2000).
