Sometimes late at night you know I just can´t help but think that we all need a little love sometimes just a little love to get us through the day and as I lie there late at night all alone oh so very alone I think that maybe just maybe you might need a little love too because I know that you´re human and really we´re all very human and I´ve got needs you´ve got needs we´ve all got needs and it´s not like we really want it I mean we do but the thing is we´ve got to have it and I think maybe well I don´t
know being all alone and all and the cars pass out on the street and the music comes in through the walls all the voices we can´t understand all the things they say and they´re such lonely sounds I think such lonely lonely sounds and maybe if we could have each other then maybe the sounds wouldn´t be so lonely we could sing together maybe sing the most beautiful songs together all through the night and into the morning we´d frighten all the lonely sounds back into the street back on down the block and back into the sea....

Exoticism: Construction of the exotic other via music. For the west, females are equated with the exotic other and nature in them (Amy Sumac sings like a bird etc.) Exoticism constructs power relations between east and west by equating feminine qualities with the other. Women are removed from power in their own culture and just plain reprpesented badly. In The Gospel of Barry, women are equated with nature (it is not just bad) but that is used to criticize the negating of feminine qualites in the age of rationalism and heightened technology.
