Well, about twenty years ago, in the Year Of The Horse,
in the city of Minsk - capital of
Belarus - a child was born. His parents, were extremely
glad and proud, since that was their first son! They thought
for a while... and decided to name him Vladimir, or Vova
for short. In Slavic languages this name means"The ruler
of the world" (vladi - from the word vladet' - to rule,
and mir - world). Well, we'll see where that will lead to
... :)
Anyways,
that child is me, and here I am: It has been twenty years
from that day! It is hard to believe, especially when I
look into the mirror, because no matter how much older I
become I do not look a day over sixteen. You know, some
people might say 'It's OK', well it is, but at times it
gets to you... but I do not mind :) Hey, in a hundred years,
when everyone will look old, I will still look young and
fresh...
Originally
I am from Minsk, the city that is a capital of Belarus -
one of the former republics of what used to be USSR.
I
came to the United States exactly five years ago! October
27th is my anniversary, to say so. It was quite an nteresting
thing, but if I am going to start my narration right now,
cause I am afraid you will never come back to this site
again.
For
the first year I went to Bancroft Middle School in Hollywood.
Oy vey... That was my first introduction to the teenage
life in America. Too much of the new stuff... TOO MUCH!
But it was cool! My next four years I spent in Van Nuys
High School. Quite a nice place to tell you the truth. Has
seen it all! Met some great people! Even though I graduated
almost two years ago, I still have occaisonal desires to
come back! It is funny, when you are there, all you want
to do is get out ... but, when you actually do get out,
you want to go back... Hmmmm... OK I am getting into philosophy
here. Lets not start.
In
my senior year I started attending Mt. Sierra College in
Pasadena. It is a technical school that teaches you computers,
multimedia, and graphics design. At that time their main
emphasis was computer networks. I chose the Novell track,
and in couple of months became a CNA - Certified Novell
Administrator. The second portion of the coursework is CNE
- Certified Novell Engineer - that I am still working on.
Hopefully some time soon I am planning to complete it, in
addition to the Certified Web Designer Certification and
A+ Certification, that I am preparing for as well.
For the past six years (even a litte more) I have been working
in the Children's Division of the Beverly Hills Public Library.
First I started as a Page, shelving books, but later on
I was assigned more complicated tasks, computer projects
and so forth. Now I am working as a senior clerk, doing
bunch of computer work, and maintaining a Web
site for the Children's Division.
In addition to this, I do a lot of private contracting,
writing Web pages for people and businesses, helping them
purchase and maintain their computers, and install computer
networks. Hey, some extra cash on the side, why not? I have
my resume online, if you are interested please click here,
always glad to help. :)
