Now you are able to browse the tour without being connected to the Internet. Doing this, you're saving money while you read the pages, and the access to the the tour pages and graphics is a lot faster.
Installation
1. Dowload the .zip file (edition of December 1997).
- This version is always the most recent one! When the updates are made, this file is also updated. So, you don't need to download the updates after the complete file!. But, if you have the complete version (older than this one), you may download just the updates, because they are smaller.
2. If Netscape is correctly intalled, the file will be uncompressed automatically. If it doesn't happen, you'll need to uncompress the file manually. If you need help, read the page about decompression. The reason of existing a .zip file instead of a .sit file is that, due to some strange technical problem, the download is not done how it should be, and a window full of "trash" appears. If you know how to solve this problem, here on geocities, mail me, please. Inside of the zip file, tou'll find the sit or cpt file.
3. Right now, you should have on your hard drive a folder called "Offline tour". That's it! The installation is complete!
How to read the tour
1. Open the "Offline tour" folder.
2. On the inside, you will find two files: one of them is the beggining of the tour in portuguese. The other is the english version. Open the file you want.
- If, when you double-click on the file, the computer tells you that it can't find the application that created the file, do the following: open your WWW browser (Netscape, Microsoft Internet Explorer, MacWeb, Mosaic, and so on) and choose Open... or Open File... on the File menu. On the directory window, open the file on the language you want. And it's done!
You may browse the tour without being connected to the Internet, but if you want to download the programs, go to the sites of the several companies, or to my links page, you'll have to open a connection first. To make sure you may click a link with no connection made, point the cursor to that link. If, on the bottom of the browser's window, an address starting by file:// appear, you may click. Instead, if you see some other beggining (http://, ftp://, mailto:, news:, and so on) you must connect your Mac to the Net before clicking.
Updates
If I change anything on the tour, the file will be updated. But, if you want to download just the changed pages, you may do it. The installation is easy:
1. If you haven't done it alredy, decompress the .zip file, and, after that, the .sit or .cpt file.
- A new folder will appear, named "Update: date ". Date is the date when that update became available.
2. Drag the files that are inside that folder to the "support" folder, inside the tour folder, that was alredy in your hard disk. Your Mac will ask if you want to remove the old files that have the same name of the new files. Say "Yes"!
That's it. Now, start the tour and click "What was on the last update", on the inicial page.
Available updates:
- Update of December 1997
- Update of 8 June 1997
You also may receive the update files in your mailbox automatically, without needing to check every time if there's something new on the tour. If you want to do it, come to the registation page.
ATTENTION! I do not take any responsability by any damage caused by the software, and by any parts of software out of my control (for exe. virus) that eventually may be included.
I do not guarantee, by no means the timely dispatch of updates. I am not an on-line service, and so I do not assume the respect of any schedule. This is for me a hobby and so, I can only use my spare time.
