On 583/11/18 a group of adventurers explored a series of caverns beneath the city of Portown. Among this group was a lizard man, Shashkar the Slayer. Later joining this group, after they had discovered (but not rescued) Princess Daphine, was Moorak Drake of Ningal. Together with Shanna Delphi, they explored a large section of the sea caverns.
On 583/12/7 Moorak, along with Treblo the Boy Magician, J.R. (another lizard man), Fanor Wolvesbane, Ingella Smokeshadow and a few other adventurers, discovered the ruined fortress of Quantar, three days journey from Portown. Beneath this fortress was a series of dungeons which the band of adventurers explored. During the course of these explorations, J.R. found and drunk a flask of Whimsy Wine. Within seconds the lizard man was permanently reduced to the height of 6 inches! Also within these ruins dwelled a multi-hued dragon which the party slew at the cost of all but those members named above. Within the lair of the wurm was an egg, which was given to Moorak, the one who had administered the death blow (not to mention the only member of the party left standing in the room at the end of the fight).
The egg hatched the very day it was recovered (584/2/1) admitting to the world the "brass" dragon Tycho. Because of his multi-hue heritage, the young dragon was able to fly at higher speeds than normal for a dragon of his type not to mention acquiring the tastes and mannerisms of an electrum dragon.
Seven days after recovering the young dragon, Moorak moved to a small village to retire and raise his new "son" with the help of the Al Karak Elam, Shadowing Runebrow. There his twin sister Caeleia caught up with him, leaving after a night-long argument over Tycho. About a month later, Treblo and Ingella convinced Moorak to accompany them through a magic portal they had discovered in the near-by Cairn Hills. Bringing Tycho, J.R. and Fanor they discovered the Dragon Crown. Using the Crown, Moorak took control of Zakron the Terrible, a powerful red dragon.
The intrepid band recrossed the portal, only to find that it did not lead to the same place they had left. Now in the Yeomanry, the party encountered Hawkwind Moonblade who convinced them to help him put an end to the raiding bands of hill, stone, frost and fire giants who were destroying the "Westernlands". So began, on 584/4/5, the first of a long series of raids on the nearby giant settlements. Word was sent and Caeleia traveled to join the defenders, only to be killed in defence of the Keep on the Borderlands. Soon afterward J.R. was also slain. Making a deal with a cleric of Odin the party agreed to destroy three giant settlements in exchange for the immediate raising of J.R. and the subsequent raising of two others, as well as helping restore the sanity of a ki-rin the party had encountered.
The War Against the Giants lasted for over eight months when the adventurers were slain to a single man, J.R.! Now consisting of Moorak, Treblo, Ingella, Fanor and J.R., the party takes a brief respite from fighting giants, gaining three wishes in the process, in addition to Treblo's Staff of Power, Moorak's Rod of Lordly Might and Fanor's sword, the Iron Angel! During this time Tycho also matures enough to be left alone for more than a few hours. With one of the wishes the cloud castle Skyhaven is created (although unbeknownst to the adventurers the castle only had a life span of seven years!). The ki-rin the party had aided earlier had promised to locate the egg of a black Pegasus in gratitude. After a year of searching, the beast's promise was fulfilled. Thus Ingella gained her treasured mount Midnight.
The party returned to their battle against giants on 585/7/3. The band have become fairly well known group of heroes throughout the Yeomanry and surrounding lands. Among the titles earned, Fanor gains her last name in honor of all the wolves she slew in battle with the hill giants. Hawkwind and Moorak go looking for stalwart companions to help them finish off the frost giant's lair, thus they befriend Kelric the GiantSlayer and Nightfall. With Fanor and occasionally Ingella, they attack the frost giants' frozen lair. At the end of one raid, Hawkwind is slain and his magic giant-slaying bastard sword The Moonblade is lost. So begins a long series of forays into the giants' lair where even Treblo lends a magical hand. Over two months later the sword is recovered and the heroes drift their separate ways again.
Caeleia and Treblo both begin to travel the country side in search of adventure and excitement (and Treblo for magic). During this time, Moorak and Nightfall became very good friends (Blood Brothers in fact, as he was with Fanor and J.R.). Together they defeated the red dragon of Dragon Spat Geyser, where Moorak finds his sword of dragon slaying, Dragon's Bane. With the sword and the help of Nightfall and/or Treblo, Tycho and sometimes Zakron, Moorak begins to journey throughout the neighboring lands, hunting down and slaying evil dragons. In less than eight months, 10 dragons have fallen, although Zakron too is killed in battle with a blue dragon.
Meanwhile, Treblo, Ingella and Aarondella Nimrith search for Ingella's father, the creator of Murder World. In the course of this quest they slay a beholder (just barely!) and recover for Ingella a scimitar of sharpness. About the same time Caeleia finds her sword Elthior, also a weapon of sharpness.
On 586/5/11 Moorak, Hawkwind, Fanor, Ingella, Nightfall and Kelric assault the halls of the fire giant king Snurne Potbelly in retribution for the giants' raids in the lands of men. Afew brief forays drive the giants back, but do not destroy their hold or power. At this point Moorak turns to Treblo and decides that perhaps its time he learns some magic. During his apprenticeship Moorak and Nightfall recover to baby red dragons, Baahamar and Duethrona.
Also in 586 Nightfall finds the sword Blackrazor and keeps it rather than return it to its rightful owner Grimslade the Grey. Soon afterward he is slain and the sword passes to Norin Illirum Xanok, who with Marion and Goldilox Took, enter Murder World where they are slain by a Githyanki Knight (who Goldilox was able to sneak up on and kill!). After Nightfall is resurrected the sword is returned to him, although Grimslade becomes aware of its where-abouts at this point.
During the same year, Aarondella recovers a blue dragon egg in Phantasia. There she was given the opportunity to transform it into an amethyst dragon. On 587/7/1 Moorak and Aarondella eloped. Soon afterward Mirriona and April, two purple dragons are added to Were. Moorak decides that he needs a place to himself and leaves Skyhaven to create the Dragon Heights. His sister aids him in this with a wish, her way of repaying her twin for his instrumental role in her resurrection. This new stronghold, however, brings the wrath of the Plar of Hool who doesn't enjoy castles appearing in his backyard overnight. To make matters worse, Grimslade begins to put pressure on Nightfall to return his sword. Only their status as folk heroes and saviors of the westernlands saves the pair.
After a few months of relative calm, on 588/10/27 giants again attack the realm of men. The Dragon Heights is unfortunately located rather near the halls of the fire giant king, whose people weren't to happy about having their lord changed into a puppy dog during the last raid. Moorak's twins are born a few days after a major assault upon the Dragon Heights is repelled (here is where the Plar of Hool loses all backing from the other Sea Princes since Moorak, Treblo and Nightfall could have quite possible saved a good portion of their kingdom).
Nightfall returns Blackrazor the next day (he didn't feel like endangering his wife and two unborn daughters any longer). Caeleia and Treblo go off to "get" some giants (getting thoroughly sidetracked on the way). Moorak, Nightfall, Hawkwind and Kelric also go off to teach giants some lessons in etiquette, these ones being from the Little Hills. During this time both Hawkwind and Kelric are permanently slain, and Moorak is temporarily.
On New Years day of 590, Moorak and Aarondella return home to find their children and their guardian missing. After a successful "wish" quest, the children are returned although much older. They spent the time they were gone on a different plane where time moves faster, what was about five months to their parents was five years to them. Their mentor Gimble Gemnose had followed the childnapper, Namora, and recovered the children, raising them as best as a gnome could in medieval France!
Fanor and Caeleia attack the halls of the fire giants. After several successful raids the are slain and carried away by Mirage. Moorak gets them raised and together they wreck their revenge. About four months later Treblo meets Margus Jamiah and Ariel who become part of Skyhaven, with Prince Corrinthean Wildoak. Most of Moorak's dragons leave the Were at this time due to some jealousies between them. Tycho and Rhalindora (who thanks to Aarondella has finally become a real Amethyst Dragon -- except for psionics) decide to stay and Baahamar remains on completely friendly and open terms.
Mythros the Mad, a powerful, dragon-riding wizard kidnapped the princess Vialla. A band of rather inexperienced adventurers snuck into the wizard's castle to save her. Todar GiantSlayer (no relation to Kelric), Bart Silverwind, Sir Gallen, Anastasia Woodswift and Rhom StrongArm were able to rescue her without alerting the mage and in the process slew an anti-paladin in his service.
Bart joined Damelia, crowned Princess of Furyondy, Glorin Brightbow, Alderan and Carnelia in a series of adventures which ended with the party (now consisting of Bart, Damelia, Carnelia, Lorimar, Tali, Brutus, Garth and Prince Raconna) being trapped on a jungle island ruled by a sea hag/witch. The party also had a witch of their own, for Rhanee StrongArm had been sent by her god Bahamut to aid them. To defeat the hag, the party had to recover the lost sword Sea Flame which rendered it's wielder immune to witch magic. In the course of their search the party was also able to recover Sea Flame's twin sword Ocean Frost. The hag dead, the party tried to cross through the witches magic mirror. Alas, something went wrong and the party was separated. Rhanee and Bart returned home while Glorin wound up with Damelia, Raconna and Carnelia in the Arctic. As a curious side-effect, everyone lost all their possessions bar one, although the opal rings the party had carried since their inception were spared and furthermore enchanted to allow them to breathe underwater.
Back on the Wooly Coast, the villages and towns under control of Castle Yorl and Lord Bartholamew were being destroyed by roving bands of bugbears and ogres. Rhom, Anastasia, Todar and Gayland joined Grimrod the first, Slick, Khol and Solinane Pincushinor and together attacked both the bugbear's caves and the ogre's den. The cost was Slicks's leg and Rhom's life. Miraculously, the party was able to have Rhom resurrected (there wasn't enough to be raised from the dead). In exchange, Rhom had to recover the Staff of Law. After several raids, the party (which now consisted of Khol, Solinane, Garble and Brand) met in combat an ettin, a cockatrice and a triceratops -- all at the same time. Khol was killed by the ettin, but the party was victorious! Now Solinane, Todar, Rhom and Anastasia (who were now married), Ariel, Bart (who had returned from the Quest) and Asfaloth entered the inner caverns and recover the Staff.
On 592/9/1 Treblo recovers a wish, and after much deliberation in his library, wishes to know the location of a Libram of Silver Magic so he can start casting Death Spells, etc. From here on Treblo keeps the spell Reincarnate ready at all times since he soon becomes the last course of action for characters who are slain. The first person he reincarnates is in fact his apprentice Suevelia -- she returns to life in the form of an orc. She hides her condition with a polymorph spell and goes off on a series of adventures to recover a wish and regain her original form. In the course of these adventures Suevelia meets up with Moorak and they are joined by Bart Silverwind, Todar Giantslayer, Kenya Woodswift (sister of Anastasia) and others to explore one of the dungeons that Treblo had uncovered searching for his Libram in hopes of finding some cure for Suevelia.
It here that after slaying a large adult orange dragon and recovering it's egg for Bart that Moorak and Kenya wander off (so Kenya can prove herself) and in doing so release a barbed devil that ultimately slays Moorak by Holding him and with the help of the other three evils he gated in, tearing him apart. The party makes contact with Treblo and luckily the Devils were so eager to get out of captivity that they didn't make sure that their victim could be restored to life. A resurrection spell and four regenerates are used to restore the dragonlord. Kenya returns to Klarr, Rhom and Anastasia's new hometown (one of the ones that they saved from the bugbear and ogres, feeling completely responsible for what had occurred.
During this time Bart, Rhom and Anastasia together with Borlon and others discover and explore a dungeon they named Cube's Caverns due to the very large number of gelatinous cubes they encountered within. It is hear that Anastasia herself fights and vanquishes a barbed devil as do Rhom and Bart. The cleric Borlon is their only new compatriot to survive -- in part due to his strange psionic power to turn invisible and to read minds. A strong bond forms between this party and when Anastasia become pregnant, it is Borlon who is named the child's (really twins) Godfather.
Kristoph and Meagan StrongArm are born without complication in the little town of Klarr, one of the villages that Rhom, Anastasia, Bart, Todar and Solinane saved from the bugbears and the ogres. It is here that the couple settle and here that their fellow adventurers are drawn.
During the year 593 the Fabulous Five begins to take shape, as Todar, Bart, Rhom, Anastasia, and Solinane, accompanied by Suevelia and Sir Galleon attack a small hill giant stronghold at the request of the local nobility. Soon afterward they attack another. On 595/1/1 a coalition of the nobles of the Wild Coast -- The Five Lords -- asks these adventurers to end the raids of these and other races of giants at their source, the lair of the hill giant chief, Norasa. Joining them in a series of raids is a large group of heroes; Grimrod the II (Brother of the former), Thrud the Barbarian, Reilia the Witch, Rhanee StrongArm and Jockie the Tasoloi.
The heroes are quite successful at first, although Bart falls prey to a giant't boulder saving Thailine uth Matar. Thailine, a thief, uses Bart's Elixir of Life to restore him once she pulled the body under cover. After several decisive victories, Rhom and Anastasia along with Fingle leave for a brief visit with their children. Meanwhile, the balance of the adventurers, joined by Margus Jamiah and a pair of centaurs attack the steading again. Although countless giants are slain, the party is massacred. Only Rhanee and Kenya escape. The witch forms a rescue party to recover the bodies of the slain. For the most part, this group is successful, but neither Bart nor Solinane's body are recovered, having been eaten by the giants. Todar is temporarily reincarnated as a bugbear.
After these giants have been dealt with, other giants are found and defeated. The heroes are asked to escort a mysterious magical stone from Fax to Waybury. After fending off numerous giants and guarding the black object even from the light of day, the party arrives in Waybury. According to a prophesy, the stone will help heroes of a given time and space, as well as defend a city from harm. The nobility allows the heroes to touch the stone which then shuffles the ability of their choice.
While all this is happening Rhanee watches over her nephew and niece and when she too joins the adventurers, Borlon comes down from SkyHaven to watch over them. Borlon, in the interim, has acquired a Cubic Gate from his friend Kantar the Thunderer who soon afterward was slain. Klarr was growing at this time and one of the things that grew quickly was the bar, the Displacer. The proprietor, Thailine collected displacer beast hides and hung them from the walls. She too joined the raiders in fighting giants.
On 595/3/21 Rhom and Grimrod are raised without complication or cost, curtesy of the nobility. There is a week long party following, celebrating the destruction of not only the giant stronghold, but the protection of Waybury and the knowledge that if the giants do return, there will be heroes to save the populous. This idea gives birth to a new order, the Knights of the Wild March, whose first members are Grimrod, Reiszor, Rhom, Todar, Bart, Anastasia, Kenya and Solinane (Thailine snuck out of the ceremony). The group returns to Klarr where Rhom and Anastasia are reunited with their children. The nobility asks them to crush the frost giants next, by May 1st. The Party remains in Klarr until the first, since they have a magical chain which will bring them to the frost giants' lair.
Early that morning, Todar, Grimrod, Bart, Rhanee, Ariel, Solinane, Kenya and Nishiki leave Klarr. Rhom, Anastasia and Thailine choose to be left behind, Rieszor does not. The first raid is successful, but cost Nishiki his life. Ariel scoops up the remains and flies with all speed to Treblo have the hengeyoki reincarnated. She drops off the magical map at Klarr so that those who didn't go before could join their fellows. First however, befret of Nishiki, Kenya (who has some Arctic malady) and Ariel, the party sacks nearly the entire first level of the frost giant king's lair. They recover a two-handed sword of giant slaying for Todar and a Powerbow for Solinane. The third raid, which includes the group from Klarr and even Suevelia and a wild elf named Ashone, beats the giants back but in the process Rhom looses his hammer `Joten Seeker' and Anastasia is forced to use two of her magical cards -- the dragon and the chimera. Bart looses much more. Having been frozen by ogre magi, his eyes and brain freeze, he's just barely alive, rotting in spite of their spells which cure disease and retard gangrene. Ariel, seeing all this through Treblo's crystal ball has him teleport to the party's aid. Treblo takes Bart, as well as Thailine and Wugee (Kee'O), back to civilization. Reiszor receives an omen in a dream to seek a temple of Athena immediately, so he too leaves the band of adventurers. Todar, Grimrod, Rhom, Anastasia, Kenya, Rhanee, Solinane and Photon are all that is left. Armed with the Wands of Fireballs and Wonder they attack for the fourth time.
