Without Subjects, crowns are just garish hats...

Brace yourself for a shocking statement: Sometimes the Sidhe get a little full of themselves. Not shocked? Neither are the common kiths of Twin Hills when hearing such. Still, sometimes it's good to state the obvious. While the Duchy has more sidhe than the suspected 5% of most Concordia, they are still but one jewel in the vast treasury of the Dreaming.

Thanks to Duke Bastian's reforms, and the reforms of his niece, the late Duchess Aurora (who, if anything, was even more radical in her ideology) the Commoners have many rights here. Those seeking to abuse them will find themselves quickly curtailed either by the Duke (he is a Traditionalist, but does not condone abuse of charges, or his wife's works), or, sometimes the commoners themselves. There are even budding experimentations in Democracy. All the major Kiths can be found in the Duchy, some are more prevalent in certain sections of it than others.

BOGGANS- Found in the greatest numbers in the County of the Sun; these fine kithain are the often over looked backbone of the Duchy. Only a few freeholds do not have at least one boggan in service. Beyond the stereotypical roles of cooks, butlers, and other household servants; many boggans act as advisors to the Nobles. One or two have even joined their ranks. Naturally, the majority of them have little to do with courts, save to enjoy the gossip produced by the latest going on. It's highly likely that the Duchy would fall apart without them, so perhaps their carefully hidden smugness is deserved.

ESHU- As stated elsewhere, the Duchy is often seen as a 'midway' point between other Duchies. This gives it a steady eshu population. Of course, you may not be able to find the same eshu you did last week, but one will be around. They are a vibrant kith, and few doors are closed to them. While they are sometimes distrusted for their lack of commitment, in these troubled times, the stories they bring are all the more anxiously sought. Those few that side with nobility choose to become heralds, or knights errant. Most relish their commoner status, however. After all, why be a Knight of some Sidhe House, when on the road, every man is his own Prince?

NOCKERS-One of the rarer Kith in the Duchy actually, for they are soon drawn to the more technologically inclined areas and universities up north. However, those that are here are quite prominent. This is in part to the late Duchess' own birth mother, Irene Oliver, as well as her brother being of this brilliant but barbtongued kith. Nocker work is in high demand and they know it. Few are of the Nobility, though they do see the Sidhe as their best customers. Ironically enough, relations between the Nockers and Nobles are at an all time high right now.

PISKIES- Another wandering kith, these fine fellows with the too eager hands can be found usually at places like circuses, caravans, airports and other centers of migration. This makes them fit in well with most of the Duchy; they frequent the food festivals of the County of the Sun, walk the beaches of the County of the Conch, and enjoy the hills of First Hill Holdings on their way to GoldenGate. Few, if any of them, deal much with the Nobility as a regular thing. They're commoners and happy with that. Also, their tendency towards good natured filching can rile even the commoner loving Fiona (One never knows what harmless trinket might also be a True Heart's favor).

POOKA-Evenly scattered through out the Duchy, the Pooka are a prominent kith in Twin Hills. Many in the County of the Conch are of Marine type animal form. Given the fact they spend a great deal of time as part of nature's beauty, it's understandable they do as much as they can to protect it. More than one environmentalist group has a Pooka musing it, or even protecting it when need be. While there are exceptions, politics seem to be nothing more than a game for them, when they bother with it at all.

REDCAPS-Redcaps are not loved, Redcaps are not liked, and frankly, many other kiths wondered if Redcaps were even needed? These was true for most of Twin Hill's past. Even other Commoners (sometimes especially other commoners) gave them cold and wary welcome. With the arrival of the Dark Kin, it was feared the Red caps would sign up with the Black Horned Lord, and join in the chaos. Quite the opposite has occurred. Corbies have begun forming to retake what was a dying occupation among Redcaps: Monster Hunter. While never that numerous before, a growing population of Caps is now in the Carmel Valley area, where most of the Dark Kin have been spotted. It would seem they intend to prove that these newly returned Nightmares are but pale imitations.

SATYRS- Pacifican lands are often near heaven to Satyrs, and this Duchy is no exception. While many are bored by the County of the Sun, the other areas of the Twin Hills have quite a Satyr population. What's more, the Satyrs are often the first to take advantage of open courts, or community meetings among commoners (though, they sometimes arrive drunk, late, or both). Some of the most fiery speakers to be found at the Freedom Hold are of this kith. In the County of the Conch, Jude sometimes worries about the possible abuses of mortals under the Gift of Pan, but thus far, the Satyrs have been as good as gold. Still, rumors of dark doings, and dealings in white slavery do sometimes occur.

SLUAGH-Much of Pacifica is bright. Much of Pacifica is warm and alive. The Duchy has fewer of this kith than it's neighbors to either north or south thanks to both aforementioned reasons, and fewer large decaying cities. Those that are here however, do just fine. As one of theirs was used as a catspaw in the assassination of the former Duke, they have grown even more aloof. Right when more seem to be seeking out their services. Very odd.

TROLLS-When troubled times come, folks may look to the Sidhe for leadership, but even the sidhe look to the trolls for protection. Now more than ever, the Giants rise up to face the many challenges awaiting the Duchy. The normally Traditionalist Duke Ewan has openly called them the "other Noble Kith" and treats them as such. Even those Trolls who do not gain the title of Knight or greater (and besides the Sidhe, this kith has the most power in the local noble structure) are given great respect. Trolls have been entrusted, to a large degree, with guardianship of the trods. It is a sign of the character of this kith that few have any question of competence or trust regarding that.

SELKIES-Technically part of the Gallian, there is no denying that in many ways this is the 'other' kith of the Duchy's shores. They tend to have their own ways, many of which are unknown to those "not of the skin", but these romantic changelings are for the most part beloved. A few advise to the noble courts, but most prefer the grandeur of the shore and sea to sidhe holdings or commoner mews.
