All su.* newsgroups, are restricted to Stanford affiliates only.
This means that the newsgroups are only available to machines on
Stanford University's network and to authenticated off-campus users
with an active SUNet ID. The su.* newsgroups, including su.org.german
and su.bboard.postdocs, are *not* distributed off-campus.
Official announcement (published in: "Keepin'You POSTed-DOC" Volume 4 Issue 11, August 1999):
"Newsgroup Su.bboard.postdocs is a new newsgroup open for discussion of all postdoctoral issues at Stanford.
To access the newsgroup, setup the news server in your webbrowser to nntp.stanford.edu. To post to the news group,
email your message to [e-mail gateway snipped]. The group was initiated by , MD, Pathology."
For postdocs, students, faculty - discussing german and other cultures - not limited
to Germans or students of german language (english accepted).
One favourite topic so far: not always serious,
and somtimes quite entertaining comparisons of "cultural differences" between the americans and
germans.
We already had four real meetings with around 10 people each (Sommer-Stammtisch) of our "newsgroup" whithin the first
two months.
