I started taking martial arts awhile back. I thought it would be a good idea for exercise as I had taken martial arts up until starting college. It was a mistake.
Turns out ATA is staffed with a plethora of no-talent a$$klownz whose only concern is removing the mon-ay from your wallet (yeah, there are a couple of nice peeps working there, but they are rather rare). In the martial arts world this is called a McDojo and this is why I have no respect for the association or the peeps that serve it.
One thousand apologies to those I recommended ATA to in the last few months (some of you have already complained quite loudly to me :) ). Know that I have learned my lesson and have now started turning people away from this pathetic franchise by recommending they go *anywhere but ATA* for martial arts!!!
Update (2.15.04): my new Why ATA Sucks page.

Work, work work.
Not a heck of a lot of time for play. Getting ready for the ice skating competition season, so far only Victoria will be competing. Preparing some picture updates for the baby page. Working on a super secret game (Galacticus for those that know what it means ;) ).
Personally, I am pretty much in a constant state of torpor regarding work and career.

I have finally moved the Pacifica Eco Village pages off of their temporary home in the project section of this website. Instead of a Java re-write that I had planned I ended up going the .NET/C# route!
Check out it spiffy new home : For The Future.

Latest work project is basically done, public launch on 6/30/03 (I'll post an URL - Update, here is the site: www.windowsmobiletraining.com). It's a pretty cool site built using Microsoft .NET.
Now it's time to relax for the Summer, get some personal projects done, buy some land to construct a proper New Roman Villa, work on the career change (gotta do something non-computerish), and go places with family/friends.
Finally got around to updating my digital image & 3d galleries, check 'em out! Semi-bad news is that I need to send my digital camera into the repair shop, the adhesive on the zoom lens grip gave out and it's hard to use (nothing serious). I'll be doing some more updates soon with baby pics and such.

The competition was pretty tough and the stress was on high during the early morning practice session but by the end of the day Victoria had kicked toddler butt in the Portland Classic ISI skating competition. The event had been moved to our home rink due to the permanent closure of Clackamas Town Center Ice Pavilion (the rink Tonya Harding learned to skate at). Entering two events, character spotlight (as Eeyore) and freestyle, Victoria placed first in both.

My custom built Klingbeil's finally arrived! Whoooooo!
Now comes the sometimes painful process of breaking in a new pair of skates. :) So far I can still do most everything, the lutz jump feels weird and so do crossovers. I think it will be months until the hydroplane is back...can't bend the boot at all.

I am no longer working on Java at my new job. The BORG implant from earlier Microsoft technology projects has caused a return to the Win2k platform using the .NET framework. .NET and C# absolutely rock! The same as many java app server frameworks but faster and easier to develop in!!!
Java was fun while it lasted. Besides I have a secret project (it's a game) using Java that might be complete someday ("never" is someday, right? :) ). Maybe I'll post a couple screen shots if I find the time.

While I battle with the bureaucracy that is domain registrars (Verisign in my case), and attempt to get my contact info updated and the DNS for for-the-future freed up from it's Windows NT Server prison, I have placed some of the more interesting content on this site.

Okay, I just looked at my site stats and noticed that a lot of folks are getting to my homepage from google searches on "ATG Dynamo" and "RedDot". So here is a little gem of information of relevant information. It is my personal opinion that:
REDDOT SUCKS!!!!
Further, it is my opinion that ATG, while it does not suck, is overpriced and bloated.
These opinions really have nothing to do with my new job working with the Java language on Apache/Struts (my opinion of Open Source, in general, is far worse than the above opinions :) ).
