I am a graphic designer but i am working on a web site that I wish to
link to a database. I was wondering if anyone could suggest literature
or even assist me in finding out how. Thanks

I don't know about FP98, but there's a nice program that allows you to
do
this using Java. Check out http://www.riada.com
or http://www.riada.com.au
and look for Riada Lock.

Keith,
I have done a lot of work with FileMaker Pro from Claris
<http://www.claris.com/products/claris/filemakerpro40/filemakerpro40.html>
and I found it was particularly easy to use and extremely powerful. The
latest version (4.0) is very much geared toward seamless integration from
website to database. It's a good place to start and Claris has a lot of
links to quality FileMaker database developers for even more details.
Good luck!

I didn't, re-read my messsage -- I suggested that Ken read the book
because he has made many design errors that degrade the appeal and
utility of the site.

I'd like to know what you're implying here (off-list if you prefer)

I strongly disagree. High production values are as important as quality
engineering when it comes to site development. You sell your clients
short if you approach design as an afterthought. The "As time permits"
ethic diminishes the importance of the image, identity and awareness
aspects of marketing.

To the first question - yes. To the second - I make the time. I consider
that excercise essential -- otherwise my clients' sites lay naked to
critical review and guerilla marketing attempts by other
designer/developers. Why aspire to mediocrity when excellence is
approachable?

How could I?
