Download  FINCALC 6.0

FINCALC 6.0 is an easy to use Windows program designed to handle differing financial calculations related to investments and lending. The program acts like a loan calculator filling in missing terms and payment information. FINCALC displays and prints loan amortization schedules considering four types of insurance, miscellaneous fees and charges, and real estate taxes. The investment portion of the program tracks stocks and mutual fund investments and provides up-to-date yield and profitability information for all your investments at a glance.  Calculations for retirement planning and investment annuities are possible. If for example, you need to know the time value of withdrawals given a starting balance, or the amount of money your investment will be worth given a period of time, APR, compounding, and recurring deposit amount, FINCALC makes these calculations easy for you. FINCALC's business calculations are extremely helpful for retailing businesses. As an example, you can quickly determine the markup percent, or the cost of an item given the price and markup percent, or the price given a markup percent and cost. FINCALC has been sold to gift shops, lawyers, bankers, insurance agents, real estate agents, finance companies, car dealers, and retailing companies.  It makes no difference whether you are a business or an individual, you can still benefit from using the program. FINCALC has been sold to those planning for retirement, or who need loan interest for tax purposes, or who need to manage investments better, or who need to evaluate which loan options are least expensive. If you are involved in analyzing, acquiring, or recommending investments or lending instruments, you can benefit from using FINCALC. For a complete list of recent additions in version 6.0, see What's New and look at the version 6.0 history section.

System Requirements:  Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, PKZIP/UNZIP(if you don't have PKWare's PKZip for Windows click on the hyperlink and download the free trial version), 32MB RAM, 79.3MB Free Disk Space, Pentium Pro processor or faster.
Installing instructions: After downloading "FINCALC6.ZIP", in a desired directory, do the following to install the demo:

1.  Create a directory on your hard disk called "C:\Finistall". For detailed instructions on how to do this, follow the instructions (1a - 1d) below:

  1. Right-click START to launch Windows Explorer.  Select Explore from the list. Windows   Explorer is displayed.
  2. Click Local Disk (C:), to select it from the tree on the left side of the Explorer window.
  3. Select File-->New-->Folder.  The New Folder icon is displayed on the right side of the Explorer window.  It should be displayed in blue, which means you can rename the folder by entering a folder name of "Fininstall".
  4. Type the folder name of "Fininstall" next to the icon labeled New Folder and press <enter>.  If you cannot enter the folder name, right-click the New Folder icon and select Rename from the list.  This will allow you to enter the folder name of "Finistall".

2.  Navigate through the Windows Explorer tree to the location where you downloaded Fincalc6.zip and double-click this file.  This should launch WinZip.

3.  Extract the contents of the file to the directory created in Step 1.   This is the directory called "C:\Fininstall".  Select Extract from the main window of WinZip.  A pop-up dialog box is displayed.  This is where you specify the extract directory C:\Fininstall.  Be sure to select the Use Folder Names option.  For more detailed instructions on how to do this, follow these instructions (3a - 3g) below:

  1. In the Extract To text box of the Extract Dialog window, type C:\Fininstall, or navigate to the folder using the instructions in Step C and D below.  The Extract To folder is where the contents will be placed.
  2. Click All Files, if it is not already selected.
  3. In the Folders/Drives tree, click the (+) sign to the right of the Local Disk (C:) branch.  The subdirectory list is displayed.
  4. From the subdirectory list, click the (+) sign to the right of the C:\fininstall directory, or click Fininstall (the directory name).  The directory path is displayed in the Extract To text box.
  5. Click the check box for Use Folder Names.  If you fail to do this, the Setup.exe will not work correctly.
  6. Click Extract on the WinZip Extract dialog box.   A progress bar is displayed. When the extract has been completed, you will be returned to the main window of WinZip.
  7. Click File-->Exit to close WinZip.

4.  When the contents of Fincalc6.zip file has been extracted into the directory C:\Fininstall, you are ready to start the Fincalc installation.

5.  Click START-->RUN to begin the installation of Fincalc 6.0. When the Run text box is displayed, enter "C:\Fininstall\setup.exe".  Click OK.   This will completely install the software.  Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

NOTE: "FINCALC 6.0" uses a Database Management System called Interbase.  The first time you launch FINCALC 6.0, you are prompted to install Interbase 6 Open Edition.  Please accept the default options shown. This installs the Interbase server and client components for Fincalc to function normally. Do not change the Interbase install options! Click Next and navigate through the installation windows until the message that the installation has finished is displayed.  Depending upon your OS, the DOS command window may need to be closed, before the Fincalc application will start. Close this window if it does not close automatically. When the DOS command window closes, Fincalc will start after a short period. Depending upon the memory in your machine, Fincalc can take 15 to 30 seconds to load the very first time.  The Interbase installation only occurs the first time you launch Fincalc. All subsequent attempts will assume Interbase is installed.  If you see an error like "Unknown user name or password, Unavailable Database Alias:IBLoan", the Interbase engine is not available and loaded in memory.  This could mean the Interbase installation failed, or the server is not functioning. In this case do the following:

  1. Click OK until each message prompt disappears and the main window of Fincalc is displayed.
  2. Do a FILE|EXIT from the main window of Fincalc and terminate the application after it starts.
  3. Launch the Interbase installation manually.  Click START|RUN.   In the text box that follows enter the following: "C:\FINCALC\IBSetup.bat". Click "OK".  This restarts the Interbase installation.  Click "Next" on each installation window that follows.  This will accept the default installation options.  Click "Finish" after you see the installation  timeline disappear.  If the DOS command window does not disappear automatically, close the window manually when you receive the message that the operation was successful.
  4. Start Fincalc 6.0 by clicking on START and selecting the application icon from the popup menu,  or double-click the icon on your desktop.
  5. If the application fails to start displaying the error described above, check the status of the Interbase Server.  To do this click START|PROGRAMS---> Interbase 6 Open Edition 6.0.2.0--->Interbase Server Manager.  When the Interbase Manager window is displayed, look at the Status group box.  Click Start if the status shows the Server is stopped.  Stop and Start the server if it shows it is running.

When running the installation, if you get the error, "A required DLL file, WS2_32.DLL was not found", you will need to add this file to your C:\Windows\System directory.  You may need to upgrade your version to the newest level of your OS. This file should be available on your OS install CD's.  You might try the Microsoft web site to locate the file at www.microsoft.com.  Once you have installed WS2_32.DLL and WS2HELP.DLL, rerun the Interbase Open Edition installation. Follow the instructions in Step 3 above, to complete the Interbase 6 Open Edition install.  Click OK and accept the rollback changes option when the error first occurs.  You can de-install Interbase from the control panel using ADD/REMOVE programs if needed.  This error has only been seen on Windows 95 installations.

Installing instructions: After downloading "FINCALC5.ZIP", unzip this file in any directory. This will unzip one single file called "FINCALC5.0.exe".  FINCALC5.0.exe is a self-extracting installation file that automatically starts the setup.  In Windows explorer, double click on the file called FINCALC5.0.exe to start the installation after unzipping FINCALC5.ZIP.   Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

NOTE: "FINCALC 5.0" uses a Database Management System called Interbase.  The first time you launch FINCALC 5.0, you will be prompted automatically to register the Interbase Server Engine.  The registation keys will be provided on-screen and also in the FINREAD.TXT file.  The keys will be displayed the first time you launch Fincalc 5.0 in a message prompt.  It is recommended that you view and print the text file during the installation, so you can refer to the "Important Release Notes" and the keys.  You will be prompted during the installation to display the text file before selecting finish.  When prompted, you can display and print the file.  All registration keys are context sensitive and must be entered exactly as shown.  Once your are prompted to enter the keys during the initial FINCALC 5.0 startup, click on "OK".  FINCALC then reminds you to restart the Interbase Server.  You can ignore this message since FINCALC 5.0 automatically starts the Interbase Server for you.  If you receive a database related error running FINCALC 5.0, chances are that you did not properly register the Interbase software as explained above.  In this case do the following.

1. Do a FILE|EXIT from the main windows of Fincalc 5.0 and terminate the
application after it starts.
2. Shutdown any traces of the Interbase Server if a green icon appears
on the system tray. Right mouse click on the icon and select the
"shutdown" choice.
3. Launch the Interbase registration utility manually. Click on
START|RUN. In the text field that follows enter the following:
"C:\FINCALC\IBLICENSE.EXE". Then click on "OK". This will restart the Interbase registration utility. Click on "REMOVE" and delete any keys shown. Click on "ADD" and then enter the key values. Click on "OK" when you are done. You should receive a message stating the operation was successful.
4. Ignore the message about the Interbase Server must be restarted.
Fincalc 5.0 will restrart the server automatically when you lauch the
application in the next step.
5. Start Fincalc 5.0 by clicking on START and selecting the application
icon from the popup menu. You should see the green icon appear on
the system tray and be able to perform all database functions
normally.
6. Once you have registered the Interbase Server engine properly you
will not have to worry about issues like this again. If you fail to do this
correctly, various parts of Fincalc 5.0 will fail to function properly and different errors will be displayed.

NOTE: You can shutdown the Interbase server anytime by doing a
RIGHT mouse click on the green system tray icon, and then doing a
left click on the popup choice for "shutdown".  If you terminate Fincalc 5.0
by closing the main window, the server remains active.  If you
terminate Fincalc by doing a FILE|EXIT combination, the server is terminated automatically.  If you close the main window from the
upper right hand corner, the server remains active and during your next lauch of Fincalc 5.0, you will be reminded that a previous
instance of the server is running.  You must then select "OK" to contine.
