Back in Bacolod, Lou got a part-time job as a Guidance Councilor from
the same university she graduated. It was also during this time that she
took an offer from Negros Navigation Company, a once flourishing
shipping corporation with strong business roots. She was assigned on the
newly opened subsidiary, ShipShops. It was in this organization where
Lou gained exposure in training and recruitment. She got acquainted with
the HR intricacies of handling a fast moving F&B arm of a large company.
Although she was already happy with the job but the financial gains was
minimal. She was not satisfied with her current situation and had
looked into the prospect of working abroad. The decision of working
abroad was further augmented by the fact that Cesar was also working in Brunei.
Dubai welcomes Lou
Lou applied in IPAMS and got an opportunity to work for
Dubai Duty Free. Although hired as a sales cashier, she had never felt any remorse or
pity for the job and had offered her best. In fact, she had won several
awards on customer service and was sent to many of the events sponsored
by the organization.
It did not take time for Lou's talents and skills to
be discovered. Only after working as a sales assistant for nearly 6
months she was re-assigned to conduct an orientation seminar for newly
recruits. The organization had been a jumping board for Lou’s
professional career in Dubai. Her superiors recognized her talents and
gave her sensitive projects that were fully appreciated by the
management.
