An American place for teaching and practice of the
Vajrayana tradition of Buddhism following the
lineage passing through Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche
and Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. The spiritual head is
Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, the abbot of Ka-Nying
Shedrub Ling, one of the largest monasteries in
Nepal. Rangjun Yeshe Publications, related to
Chokling Tersar Foundation, publishes translations,
practice booklets, and a Tibetan-English dictionary. | |
Rimay Thegchok Namdrol Ling | The original Rimay Thegchok Namdrol Ling
monastery was one of 6,000 monasteries
completely destroyed by the Communist Chinese
after they took over Tibet in 1959. Rimay
Thegchok Namdrol Ling is a non-sectarian
monastery established by the Fifth Lelung Tulku, a
treasure discoverer who lived in the 17th century.
He is best known as the revealer of the great
treasure of the "Secret Exalted Wisdom Dharma"
as predicted by Guru Padmasambhava. The site is
raffling Thankgas and rugs to help rebuild the monastary. | |

The Aro Tradition of Nyingma | The ngakphang tradition is colorful, individualistic,
and highly heterodox. The ngakpas and ngakmas,
are the ordained, robe-wearing members of this
tradition. They are neither 'lay', nor 'monastic', nor
'in between'; and defy all attempts to pigeon-hole
them into the neat and tidy categories of
authoritarian institutions. They are a parallel stream
of practice to that of the better known monastic
sangha, and represent an opportunity for western
people to establish the highest possible commitment
to the Buddhist path without having to become
