Quilt 1
The Bryce Quilt project has only 4 squares to go!

My goals for Quilt #1
My goals for this Quilt are to learn more about stitching adjacent
elevation maps together, and to run a fun, somewhat larger
collaboration than before.
Take a look at our toe-in-the-water effort,
Quilt #0. Two things are obvious:
One, it's just a collection of unrelated terrains, with no
coherent overall shape. (Of course, we didn't even try for that.)
Two, the seams are funny - definitely an area to concentrate on.
Those two areas are what I'd like to explore in this Quilt.
Hopefully we can get the seam thing under control so we can go
on to bigger and better and more creative things in future quilts.

Approximate Sequence of Events
- Signups + Discussion
Over.
This is when we can discuss what the island will look like -
where we'll put cliffs, beaches, mountains, bays, etc. I'll
put together a plan based some distillation of those
comments.
This is also when I figure out how many participants we have,
and hence, how big the island will be.
Keep checking in here, and email me any
comments you may have.
- First squares
The first 25% of the participants will create terrains
according to our discussion of the island's look.
Each terrain will be a piece of some larger landform, so
the edges will look "sliced off". However, no edge matching
needs to be done yet.
- Second squares (Mostly Done now)
The second wave will be 50% of the participants, each of
whom has two edges to match to the first squares, which
by this time are all submitted and posted.
- Final squares
The last 25% will have the task of making terrains which
match on all 4 sides.
- Finishing up
Any missing squares get created, then I piece the whole
thing together and render the final image.
