Note: The Goverment Complex is no more. The Mayor's Mansion remains, but the Legoland County Building has been sold to Kajsa International Hotels and will be converted into the Hotel Atalante, and the Legoland County Library was purchased by Bigfoot Enterprises which has transformed it into Bigfoot's Dance Club, then destroyed by a freak sinkhole in March 1998 and rebuilt as the Martin Building.

Legoland County Building

Legoland County Building

The former Government Complex contained:

The Mayor's Mansion.
The Legoland County Building.
The Legoland County Library.

The Mayor's Mansion was the first building on the site, which once was the home of the Legoland Estates. The Mayor's Mansion was expanded in 1990 from its original form to include the mayor's office as well as the mayor's residence.

The Legoland County Building (white) and Public Library (red) were built in 1990 under a strict budget from the County government. The office building contains four floors of offices, including the Office of the County Executive. The library contains two public floors of computer terminals and reference books. The main collection is stored underground and books can be retrieved through a librarian.

An airplane accident last year forced the County complex to shut down indefinitely. Recent happenings suggest the Legoland County Government is planning to sell the County Building, Library, and surrounding land to a corporate bidder. Rumor has it that an international hotel chain has made a deal and plans to convert the buildings into a four-star hotel and ballroom.

Back to the cityscape.
