Bar

There were many battles fought by the Metis Nation ... too many still reported as massacres!

Metis Bar

These battles are in chronological order. Many of these battles were fought by the Metis in order to preserve their sense of nationhood and were protective measures taken against the encroachment of other nations (Canada and the U.S.A.) on their territory and way of life. It is not surprising to note that many extreme, illegal and often immoral measures were taken by the fledgling nation of Canada to suppress, assimilate and generally try to eliminate the Metis Nation from the face of the new world.

Battle of Seven Oaks
said to be the birth of the Metis Nation

Battle with Sioux Nation
during the buffalo hunt days

Manitoba Rebellion
bringing Manitoba into Canada

Northwest Rebellion (Saskatchewan)
first and last naval battle involving Canada
