In June 1998, I got the chance to go to Colorado to visit my partner Tom. This was my first
visit to Colorado and it is easily the bluest state I have ever seen!
I survived my first whitewater rafting trip down the Arkansas River at Brown's Canyon
virtually unscathed only to break out in hives on a
car trip up the mountains. (We were
driving up this donkey path with a rock wall on one side of us and dropoff on the other and
Tom, my faithful guide said, "I hope we don't meet anyone trying to come down the
mountain." And I said, "But this isn't a two lane road!" He just looked at me as if to say,
"You have been in NY for far too long." And that's when I broke out in hives.)
Mt. Princeton as seen
from Tom's backyard.
The
Chalk Cliffs
Chalk Creek--cold!
Pinball Rapid--the ride started out easy!
Recognize
this fellow? (Dead ant, dead ant...)
South Pacific Railroad. (Tom had never seen a train come down there before.
I felt so lucky.)
Tom
scouting Zoom Flume...
I'd've been happier if I hadn't seen it first.
But
we made it through okay!
Here we are looking back at it.
Tom and his cataraft. I sat in the front seat.
If you look closely, you can still see the impression of my fingers in the side of the seat. *s*
Back to Philadelphia.
On to Autumn here and there.
