When
the Army pulled out, our guys hired their cook to continue providing meals. They
would go shopping with her to get the groceries. The truck had an overheating
problem. | The
living quarters were Corimecs. |
On
the way back to Sarajevo, stopped at a roadside Bar-B-Q place. |
They have a goat on a spit and have improvised a waterwheel to turn it. |
If
you want it to turn faster, open the faucet a little more. |
Stuck
in traffic on the approach to Sarajevo. The children were always curious and usually
friendly toward us. | She
wanted her picture taken. |
Winter
again! The US NIC. |
Another
view of the NIC. You can see what a prominent feature our catwalk was. The catwalk
allowed us to bring down our antenna's for servicing. |
Burning
classified material in the burn barrel. |
Same
barrel after a night of snow. |
Paul
is cold. He would like to be home in Naples, not in Sarajevo. |
This
is SOUTHERN Europe, right? |
The
Jadran "hotel" and the US NIC (on right). |
This
building was so booby-trapped that they finally gave up on it and just put tape
around it warning everybody to stay away. |
Another
view of the US NIC, showing our antenna towers. |
The
Crystal Palace was a Pizza place on base. The pizza was what we called "Ketchup
Pizza" since the red sauce seemed to be mostly ketchup. |
Snow
covered limbs, looking at the Serbija Hotel. |
How
about one more view of the NIC and our towers? |

Visit

Since
they cleared all the landmines (at least we hope they got them all), many people
have returned to the slopes. |
A
couple boys and their sled. |
A
snow covered mosque on the way back to Sarajevo. |
One
advantage of being at HQ in Sarajevo instead of out at one of the MNDs was that
you could go out to dinner at restaurants in town. |
Our
favorite was the Texas, a Tex-Mex place in downtown Sarajevo. |
Allthough
I didn't have to sleep with the equipment anymore, I did have roommates who came
and went at different times. Here I am opening a care package from friends. |
Apache
attack helicopters at Camp McGovern near Brcko. Preparing for the arbitration
decision. | This
is a good way to block an entrance. |
