This section contains a range of images, most of which are culled from the nineteenth century. At present, representations of landscape are disproportionately featured, although over time I hope to cover other works as well. For organizational rather than aesthetic reasons, painting and photography have been separated, although the interplay between the two is perhaps equally (if not more so) productive as treating the two media as distinct currents of visual art in America. In the future, I'd like to expand this section to include European, Asian, South American and African visual design from this period as well.
