Ode to My Dishwasher
I wandered quickly, quietly down to the kitchen cupboard where
No fairy came to clean the dishes while the night was cloaked in dream
(hmmmmmmm…)
And so I stoically prepared my hands to be immersed
When suddenly I saw it gleaming new and beautiful and white
"Alas, can it be true?" I cried! "Have you come to rescue me,
It stood, unanswering, yet I knew its purpose quite divine
And so with trembling hands at first I opened up the door
What! MORE! Yes, my heart danced with glee for this not only fit
A sink full, yes an empty sink, I had within 3 minutes!
And so I danced and sang its praises, feeding it soap and turning the dial
And when was done, oh HOW they shone! I called unto my children three

I looked and sought and searched for naught. Not one clean dish was there!
Except the one who used the one last clean dish to eat some ice cream!
In soapy, steamy water (while inside I cussed and cursed!)
The one who promised merrily to make my dishes clean and bright!
from dishpan hands and drudgery, my dear knight by GE!?"
Was to take the sticky filthy things and make them shine!
And peered inside to see, would this hold two, or three or four..
A few small plates and silverware, this would hold ALL OF IT!
And there I was, looking around to see what else to put in it!
I went to do some other things, my dishes washing all the while.
Come quick and look, share in my JOY! .. It's NOT my job to empty!
