Today is Monday, March 13, 2000: two and one half months after the end of the world. Okay, the world didn't end, but I'm ever so busy listening to a Mass for the Dead by Kaiser Leopold I. Whoever he is. Oh wait, here is a picture:
I listened to this very short piece several times in a row while I was doing email and chatting with friends, and every time I tuned in to the music is was new, fresh and lively. The refrain of the Requiem in the Agnus Dei is phenomenal! Ecstatic! Wonderful! I was completely impressed. For a work of the baroque to capture so much of my attention is rare... I would say get this one, except for a couple of things... 1) the damn thing is twenty minutes long. Based on quality this thing is worth the bucks... 2) the notes are totally in some other language, like German or something. Maybe I should type it all carefully in and employ a translator like AltaVista's Babelfish to sort it all out. Don't hold your breath. It's good. Think about getting it!
