I've been listening to this very short piece as I've been doing my evening computing, chatting and surfing. So I would have a counterpoint, I first listened to the Kaiser Leopold I which I reviewed last night. This is a somber companion for the considerably more gleeful Leopold. But the melodies are strong, and the emotions deeper. It is a pleasant listening experience, and actually makes quite lovely background music if you're, say, doing email, or chatting with online buds, or even reviewing a requiem.

This is more typical of the somber baroque fair. Nothing outstanding, or remarkable. The performance is sound, singers precise and instruments lovely. Without a Dies irae though, well, every requiem needs one, I think. If I could travel in time, I'd see to it this oversight was rectified...

This is quite a short CD, with two 20 minute requiems, but it is pleasing to the ear, the chorus is excellent, the soloists not annoying or distracting, and the price about average for a CD.
