Lose Yer Shoes: What the???
- What a weekend!!!
Lose yer shoes is an annual event held in mid August and hosted by Folkin' Blues, and other grateful friends. Aug. 13 - 15, 1999, Lose Yer Shoes took place at Bracebridge Camping.. This folkadelic festival was packed with great musical and social experiences.
Swimming and camping in Muskoka's beautiful country can be great fun for the entire family too. The festival offers a variety possibilities for your family, such as: swimming, tie dying, kids' stage and other events. As well, the site is conveniently located close to a public swim area for easy cool downs on those hot summer days. Swimming in beautiful Lake Muskoka, it doesn't get much better. There's also a swimming pool on site and if you want to see the show and cool off, try our wading pool.
Also, let's not forget the wide array of awesome entertainment. This year featured live performances Friday night and all weekend. Friday's festivities began at around 7:30 p.m. with cosmic sounds of Zen Again to kick off the weekend.
The hazy and rainy weather didn't stop the folks from enjoying the vibes and dancing to the music of Eric and Georgia's Blues Band. Saturday's events began around noon. Mudstik got things going with a spirited set of originals and covers tastefully delivered.
The rest of the day offered on stage original folk music as well as a variety of bluegrass and blues music. d here is Louise Kent accompanied by Tom. In the evening everybody lost their shoes to Folkin' Blues (pictured below in '97), the global fusion of N'Dauba and the cowadelic funkgrass of Caution Jam.
On Sunday at 10am Bruce Griffin treated us to a lovely gospel music service, which segued into a drumming workshop led by Terry Cowan. Delightful performances on Sunday included the acoustic joy of Andy D as well as Adam Scott's Earth music. The Biodegradable Band turned things up a notch with renditions of "Cassidy", "Dark Star", "Wharf Rat", "Mother Nature's Son" and "Dead Flowers".
With a wide variety of excellent music to an awesome weekend out for friends and family, Folkin' Blues welcomes you to join our folkadelic journey next year and enjoy an amazing weekend at Lose Yer Shoes in Muskoka.
