Trip to Cancun - Moon Palace
These pages are for all the kind people at the Cancun Online message boards that took the time to answer my many questions, and point me to many useful sites on the internet.  I learned alot about the area before I went, and thanks to all the people at the boards, I knew what to expect, and had a very pleasant vacation.  By putting together this somewhat wordy and quite descriptive "play-by-play" of my vacation, I hope that I am able to return the favor to all those looking for answers or photos!  I hope you enjoy my little "trip report", so have fun!

If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to email me, and feel free to enjoy the rest of my website if you are into photography, travel, Tae Bo, or art.   Thanks!!

By the way, you can click on any of the small thumbnail photos throughout this report to see a larger version!  There are also 2 maps of the Moon Palace Grounds.  You can find the link to these at the bottom of the page.

--  It was a long start to getting on our vacation, and if it wasn't for some good old fashioned luck, we might not have gone.  With all the snow, ice, and other bad weather it was a miracle that our flight took of on Monday morning!  We had been smart enough to book a night at the Holiday Inn at BWI airport, so at least we did not have to contend with traffic in the morning.

About 6:30 am we headed on over to Baltimore Washington Airport's international gate.  We were flying Ryan International Airlines on a direct flight to Cancun.  We checked our luggage at the front, and didn't have to wait at all to check our luggage.  Then we set off to grab a cup of coffee at Starbuck's  and sit and wait for our flight, which left at 8:40 am.

The flight was relatively smooth, and uneventful, until closer to Cancun, where we had to detour for a half hour due to a storm with strong winds.  This brought us in to the airport about 45 minutes late, bringing our total flight time to just over 3 hours.  Ryan Air was fairly decent as far as charter planes go, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the flight was prompt and on time.  The seats were very small, but our flight out was not crowded, so we were able to have a whole 3 seat aisle to ourselves.  The food was respectable, and we were able to get sodas and juices if we wanted.

After getting off the plane, we headed for customs.  We showed our photo ID's, and birth certificates (my marriage certificate too) and were passed through.  We next picked up our bags, and hit the magic button, only to get the RED light.  No big deal though.  They made us open our 2 bags, they rifled around for about 2 minutes, and closed it back up.  Really, no big thing.  Since we booked through Apple Vacations, or airport transfer was ready and waiting.  We got in the shuttle along with 2 other couples bound for the Moon Palace, and about 10 minutes later, we were at the Moon Palace....
