Butterfield Stage Route

Further north of the barrel cactus area we visited the site of the Old Butterfield Stage route (circa 1850) where it went over a small pass. Here are some scenes from that area.

Cliff and Judy are walking along the old Butterfield stage route. We could see the wagon tracks worn into the stone.

Looking back we could see the Blair Valley. The stage traveled from St. Louis MO. to Los Angeles, CA

Some of the rock in the area exhibited signs of ancient geological movement.

Some of the rock was quite colorful

This colorful rock looks almost plastic

This is lichen groing on the rock
