Anza Borrego - Coyote Canyon

Ocotillo Gardens

The first drive we took in Anza Borrego was through the Coyote Canyon located in the northwest section of the park and near the Palm Canyon campground where we were staying. The first point of interest we reached was the Ocotillo Gardens. Because of the unusually high rainfall this season the ocotillo plants were in especially fine form. Here are some photos we took of them.

Another nice ocotillo

Steve is standing be one of the tallest ocotillos we saw

This very old ocotillo had massive trunks. Cliff's hand is included for scale.

The trunks are quite woody on the old ocotillo

This plant had many nice blooms on it,

This ocotillo was extremely lush and green.

The green leaved stems have long and sharp thorns between the leaves

Another nice blossom cluster.
