QUOTABLE QUOTES?
Some are inspirational, some are just
cute. You'll probably find many of these quotable; others, well... You decide.
We've compiled these quotes from various lists, pages and even posters we've
seen. We also receive post from friends, but don't really know what to do with them. Maybe
you do.
If you have your own compilation, you may want to share these with our leaders.
Of course, not all of them are dance-related, but I'm sure you still find some use for
them, even for laughing matter. Now, if I don't credit it to anyone, it just simply
means I don't know whom to credit them to. So if you know, please let us know fast.
Surely everyone is familiar with this first quote:
Work like you don't need the
money
Love like you've never been hurt
Dance like no one is watching.
A friend emailed this
supposed continuation:
Live with intention
Walk to the edge
Practice Wellness
Play with abandon
Laugh!!
Choose with no regret
Continue to learn
Appreciate your Friends
Do what you love
Live as if this is all there is
Never look back
Make a Difference
Whoa, here's another
one. So which one came first???
Dance as if no one is watching;
love as if you can't be hurt.
Sing tho' no one is listening;
live as if it's heaven on earth.

Great dancers are not great because of their technique; they're great
because of their passion. - Martha Graham
It is not what you can do, but how you do it.
People are like tea bags
-- you have to put them in
hot water before you know how strong they are. -- used by

People don't stop dancing
because they get too old;
People get too old because they stop dancing. -- ANON
WHERE HAVE ALL THE GRANDMA'S GONE?
In the dim and distant past
When life's tempo wasn't so fast,
Grandma used to rock and knit,
Crochet, tat and baby sit.
When the kids were in a jam,
They could always call on Gram.
But today she's in the gym
Exercising to keep slim.
Out every night dancing Salsa, Tango
and Jive,
With every Ricky, Eduardo and Clive.
She's checking the web or surfing the net,
Sending some e-mail or investing a bet.
Nothing seems to stop or block her,
Now that Grandma's off her rocker

Posted on the wall of the Malabon Zoo's Aquarium section:
You won't be able to discover
new oceans, if you don't dared keep your eyes from the shore.
In his reply to a Tango-L post on the basic rules of Tango, Brian Salisbury bsalisb@PUBSAFETY.UTAH.EDU notes that in some
"small pockets of semi-civilization" in the wild and wooley western regions of
the US, people would tend to agree that:
Ain't perlite ta step on folks.
Watch where yer goin' Go with the flow. A fella shows a lady a good time by pertectin' her
from gettin' trampled 'neath the herd an' by movin' such that she has a durn good idea
where she oughta put her feet ta look purty fer the fellas a watchin'. A guy what messes
up on the dance floor just might not get his truck jumpstarted when the battery fails
after the party. Its OK ta showboat a little if ya leave space fer all else ta
dance.
It's not a crime to be a
beginner, but it sure is a crime to look like one.
-- Ms. Skippy Blair of Syncopations Dance Studio in Mayflower, CA, and the
originator of the Universal Unit System of Dance Education.
Bailas como sos (you dance who
you are)
--Nito Garcia, Argentine Tango Master
Since everything is but an
apparition; perfect in being what it is, having nothing to do with acceptance or rejection
one may as well burst out in laughter. "the quiet mind"
Phyllis Victory <victory@MARS.ARK.COM>
... the most expedient and
certainly the best way to learn to dance is to stand up and try it; no one can ever learn
by sitting quietly and looking on.
-- George E. Wilson, "Wilson's Ball-Room Guide and Call
Book," 1884.
Great dancers are not great
because of their technique; they're great because of their passion.

Tango...the dance of moral death -- Anon
The essence of civility is the acknowledgement that even your
enemy may have something to teach you.
-- Joseph Sobran
This was definitely
inspired by an exceptional Tango experience:
For You who travel -
searching
peace and purity through the Tango,
quietly seeking
friends amongst strangers ---
through music that pulsates with promise
of ethereal moments.
You know, and I know, how
beautiful it can be.
"Mysterious and uncapturable bliss!
Yet seems to be,
Simple as breath, easy as a smile,
and older than this earth."
Find, dear friend, in your
journey ---
one such moment.
And then, move on.
For a Tango always ends in longing!
Tango is not just a dance.
It's an experience. -- Vikky
