Image of the month
It is a known fact that everyone will have a
different opinion on which image is the best.
I am not trying to pick the best image, but picking an image that I personally liked.
I am sure that we will all agree on the fact that this is an excellent image!

"Old Faithful"...a lesson in photography.
| Late again as usual, and my pick, for 2nd month in a row, of a Ken
Maher image, is short on information, so decided to do something special. I have a thing
about the same old cliche' images being seen repeatedly. Although it is now improving, it
seems the art directors of agencies and magazines always liked to show the same images
over and over. If you are or want to be a Nature Photographer, lets get some fresh &
different approaches to our shots. Over the years I have seen so many shots of Old Faithful geyser in Yellowstone National Park, always shot form the front, and a full daylight view of the area. The one visit I made to Yellowstone a few years back, I almost didn't shoot Old Faithful because it was such a cliche' picture. A friend and outstanding nature photographer came up with the idea of "lets shoot it at sunset and back lit by the sun". Of course I went along with this change of pace. Anything but that same old shot from the grandstands. Going around to the east, we found this tree on a little knoll to fit into the image. The sunset that evening really wasn't as colorful as most of the time, so I also used a 81b filter to enhance the weak color. I thought it had worked out very well.
