There are hundreds, even thousands of nifty site tools out there to help you build your site quickly and easily. If you are using Geocities, make sure to take advantage of the tools that are available from your account page. If you are hosted elsewhere, that is okay, I have found several great sites that can really make your page easier to create.

First, you will need a decent HTML editor. If you have Frontpage 2000, that is great. The only problem I have with it is, you really are not going to learn HTML. If you already know HTML, then keep using Frontpage, if not, then my suggestion is HomeSite. HomeSite from Allaire is one of the easiest ways to create and maintain killer websites. It has lots of built in features such as a style editor, javascript creator and integrates with other programs such as DreamWeaver and Cold Fusion. They have a free eval download and the program is reasonably priced.

If you would like a fast and easy template to start building your site from, I recommend FreeWebTemplates.com. They have more than 100 pre-made templates and they are all free. They also have buttons, meta tag generators, and several other handy items to help you spice up your web pages.

Graphics, they are the heart of most websites. Tip....keep them to a minimum and use them only to enhance your site. If you need a good selection of graphics, my first suggestion is to spend a few dollars and buy yourself a good clipart/image collection. Most software stores carry such products and they will include literally thousands of great images that you can use. Okay, you are saying...I want FREE images! Not to worry, here are links to a few place to grab icons, buttons, borders and more. I have also included some links to some handy software for editing graphics.
