Dancing Trees Marimba Band of Portland, Oregon is disbanding - October 2003
After more than a decade of performing around the Pacific Northwest, and with the last of the remaining core marimba performers pursuing new and separate musical paths, Dancing Trees Marimba Band is disbanding. We are returning the rights of the name "Dancing Trees Marimba Band" to Pat Roberts of Portland, Oregon. We feel that Pat, as the last of the founding members to be a part of Dancing Trees, will be a fine steward of the Dancing Trees name and its legacy.
We would like to express our deep-seated gratitude to the many teachers, particularly the Zimbabweans, who have graced the Trees with the sharing of their musical talents and cultural enlightenments. Hats off to all who were members of Dancing Trees and a heartfelt thanks to all of you for contributing to making Dancing Trees such a joy to be associated with. And last but not least we would like to thank all the wonderful people who came to listen and dance, and who shared with us our love of the music of Zimbabwe and southern Africa.
