This is the original Smithsonian museum building, located on the Mall at 1000 Jefferson Drive SW.  Known as the Castle, it is the oldest of the 14 museums.  It now houses the Visitor Information Center, the crypt of founder James Smithson, and offices for the museums.  The red brick makes for an interesting contrast to all the white marble buildings and monuments in Washington.
