The Washington Monument reflecting in the Reflecting
Pool. The monument is currently (1999) undergoing renovations and is surrounded by
scaffolding. The Capitol can be seen just to the right of the monument. At the
opposite end of the pool (behind the camera) is the Lincoln Memorial. The Reflecting
Pool was made more recognizable to millions by a memorable scene in the film "Forrest
Gump".
