The Mushroom

[On display at The Forbidden City exhibit was an enormous mushroom that had been discovered and mounted during the Qing Dynasty.]

I, the mushroom, will give immortality
Touch me and your life will be long
If you eat me you will be poisoned.
I grow with my friends on a tree trunk.

I am

I used to be a three-toed sloth.
Now I am a swift cheetah.
People see me as a pig because I eat messily.
Really I am a snake who eats his food whole.
I am a growing tree.
I will grow into something special.
