Introduction
There
are several good reasons for creative writing, not least a deep sense
of personal fulfilment. Whatever a writer's driving motive may be -
fame, money, pleasure, therapy or the need to communicate - it is usually
accompanied by the belief that he or she has something of value to say.
However, the difficulties involved in turning one's words into real
print can seem insurmountable. Successful writing requires more than
a generous dose of natural talent.
The formation
of this writers' workshop represents an attempt to assist both novice
and experienced writers who are encountering such difficulties. No ready-made
solutions are being proposed. Such solutions do not exist. However,
what we can ultimately do is: firstly, function as a network that enables
writers to receive and provide constructive criticism of each other's
work, and secondly, gather and supply information about all matters
important to writers such as possible publication outlets inside and
outside Italy.
