Below is a list of all the known bubble blowing scenes in movies.
Links are to each movie's entry in the
Internet Movie Database.
The
Adventures of Ford Fairlane
Sit through this Diceman flick at your own risk,
but there are a couple of nice bubble scenes with a young blonde actress
whose name escapes me, but she played Margaret Cho's coworker at the cosmetic
counter in the comedienne's short-lived series.
The
Bikini Car Wash Company
Shows up on USA Network's Up All Night a lot.
Bring On The Night
In this Sting rockumentary, one of the back-up
singers in his band blows a couple of nice bubbles while the band runs
through the Flintstones theme while rehearsing for a world tour.
Caddyshack
Chevy Chase sits down at a piano and sings a
typically Chevy nonsense song to try and impress (Cindy Morgan? Sarah Holcomb?).
Unimpressed, the girl blows a good sized bubble and promptly sucks it back
in.
Cannibal
Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death
Look for Bill Maher in a role he'd just as soon
forget. B-movie actress Karen Mistal allegedly blows some nice-sized bubbles,
but no one has been able to confirm this. (I've caught this on Comedy
Central and seen scenes where the bubbles should have been, but weren't.
They might be there if you rent it, however.)
Carrie
Nancy Allen in this Stephen King classic.
The
Coca-Cola Kid
Greta Scacchi
Cookie
Emily Lloyd and Peter Falk
Crimes
of Passion
Kathleen Turner
Curdled
Angela Jones (the taxi driver in Pulp Fiction)
is always chewing a large wad of gum as she plays opposite Alec Baldwin
in this little known Quentin Tarantino produced flick. Several prominent,
large (orange to grapefruit size) bubbles. A must see for bubble
fans, even if the movie is lacking. (If you should rent it, make
sure you watch the ending interview with Quentin Tarantino!)
Desperately
Seeking Susan
Madonna blows a good size bubble within the first
minute of the film. Unfortunately, due to the camera angle, it's difficult
to see well.
Dr.
Alien, a k a I Was a Teenage Sex Mutant
need description
Dream
a Little Dream
Featuring the two Coreys, Feldman and Haim.
An unconfirmed bubble somewhere in the film.
Fame
In the early part of the movie, the auditions
for the school, there is a heavy-set black girl who blows several large
bubbles both before and during her dance routine. Don't know her name,
but she comes to the school with Leroy (Gene Anthony Ray, later in the
TV series) who is there to help her audition but ends up admitted to the
school, while she is rejected. See the Pictures
pages for three captures from Fame.
Ferris
Bueller's Day Off
While Ben Stein's monotonal teacher lectures
on the evils of Voodoo Economics and the Laffer Curve, an obviously bored
student (Lisa Bellard?) blows a large bubble which pops with a satisfying
"thwack".
Frantic
Harrison Ford in a Roman Polanski directed movie
about an American doctor in Paris for a conference whose wife is kidnapped.
Very complicated, but look for a few decent, if hard to catch because of
the camera angle, bubbles from a young French woman whose aid he enlists
to find his wife, in a scene in a Paris airport about an hour, maybe 80
minutes, into the movie.
Freaky
Friday
Barbara Harris and a young Jodie Foster swap
bodies in this Disney classic. Harris blows several bubbles in about three
scenes, all during the first 30 minutes of the movie. A 1995 TV remake
may have a similar scene.
Girls
Just Want To Have Fun
Sarah Jessica Parker
Grease
Didi Conn, in the role of Frenchy, blows arguably
the best and biggest bubble in filmdom, during the song "Beauty School
Dropout" (about 1:40 into the movie). Nearly the size of her head, Frankie
Avalon pops it with his finger.
Grease
2
Michelle Pfeiffer
Great
Balls of Fire
Winona Ryder
History
of the World, Part I
Madeline Kahn, playing Caesar's (Dom Deluise)
wife, blows a smallish bubble to signify her boredom while Mel Brooks sweats
it out in the Main Room at Caesar's Palace. Easy bubble to miss, as Kahn
is standing off in a corner of the screen, but a great movie nonetheless.
House
Party
Indecent
Proposal
Demi Moore
The
Joy of Sex
Liz Sampson (Colleen Camp) blows a large bubble
in a classroom scene, which pops all over her face and the gum gets caught
in her retainer. Loosely based on the book of the same name.
L.A.
Story
Sarah Jessica Parker
Looker
Susan Dey, post-Partridge Family and pre-L.A.
Law
Mannequin
2: On the Move
About twenty minutes into the movie, a woman
garbage truck driver blows a nearly face-sized bubble.
Mirror,
Mirror
A Winona-Ryder lookalike named Rainbow Harvest
(!) plays a goth-chick named Megan Gordon who finds a black-magic mirror
in her attic. Not making this up. The movie is quite bad, but there is
a very nice scene of Ms. Harvest blowing a large bubble in front of the
mirror. Look for it occasionally on late-night cable.
Mortal
Thoughts
Glenn Headley. Most of the bubbles are cut out
in the non-widescreen version.
(National
Lampoon's) European Vacation
After the Griswold troupe is run out of town
during the Beer Festival, they all sit sulking at one another on a train.
The daughter (Dana Hill) interrupts the silence in their cabin by blowing
several grapefruit sized bubbles and popping them loudly.
Night
On Earth
Winona Ryder
Red
Irene Jacob in the last film in Czech director
Krzysztof Kieslowski's three film cycle Trois Couleurs.
Silkwood
Meryl Streep
True
Lies
Eliza Dushku, playing Arnold Schwarzenegger's
daughter Dana, can be seen blowing a pretty large bubble in the background
while waiting for her father to come home. Brief and easy to miss, however.
The
Pom Pom Girls
Shows up on USA's Up All Night occasionally,
stars Robert Carradine (Revenge of the Nerds). A few bubbles throughout,
and a nice bubble from a girl in a van with Carradine.
Pink
Cadillac
Bernadette Peters blows a large bubble while
passing a school bus in the title vehicle.
Robocop
Nancy Allen blows three or four nice bubbles
throughout the film.
Smokey
Bites The Dust
A '70s film with no connection to Burt Reynolds'
Smokey and the Bandit. A teenage girl tries to get the main character
(played by Jimmy MacNichol) to buy cigarettes for her, and blows two large
bubbles in the scene. Very obscure film.
Spring
Fever
Not to be confused with Spring Break or
any other such movie, it was a vehicle for then-teen tennis phenom Carling
Bassett, who played (surprise!) a teen-age tennis player. Bassett blows
several large bubbles, on court and off. Very obscure movie.
Spy
Hard
Strange
Invaders
Warlock:
The Armageddon
A model seductively blows a bubble backstage at a fashion show. Pretty quick shot.
