First view of the beach after I drove up to my favorite spot. I had an overwhelming urge to visit the beach as this storm as moving inland some 80 miles to the west of Fort Walton Beach. Call me crazy, but hurricanes have always fascinated me.
The skies became dark and ominus as I stood there looking at the beach and watched the waves come crashing on shore. Those clouds were hovering pretty low, luckily no rain was in them nor any other surprises from mother nature.
Another view looking down the beach toward town sans the gloomy looking cloud overhead.

Anyone for a swim? Normally these waters are much calmer although I have seen them a lot worse during bigger hurricanes. Here the breakers are crashing on the first sandbar closest to the shoreline. This is several hours later as the storm moved inland and the skies are starting to clear.

Another view of the waves as the come ashore. The skies are beginning to clear already and soon the waters themselves will be considerably calmer.
After the storm .. This was taken the next afternoon when Danny had passed on to Georgia and up the coast.
