To Find A Friend One Must Close One Eye.
To Keep Him - Two.

Norman Douglas (1868-1918)"Almanac", (1941) p. 77

To all my friends, old and new,
Life just would not be the same without you...

"I'll Be There"

I have been blessed
with many friends throughout my life.
I have also met many others through the net
via chat rooms and instant message programs.

To all of you

(and you all know who you are ~smile~...)

I would just like to say "thank you"
for the pleasure of your company
and for your "eyes" and "ears"
through the many chats...
and romper room fun! ~smile~...

From quiet homes and first beginning,
Out to the undiscovered ends,
There's nothing worth the wear of winning,
But laughter and the love of friends.

Hilaire Belloc (1870-1953) Verses (1910), "Dedicatory Ode"

Is It Worth The Bill?
Sonnet Written by Mae (5/4/98)

Is it worth the money per month I spend
If I'm able to make at least one friend?
For info gained on the net as I surf?
And the web page I can call my own turf?
For chat rooms where the boot monster still lurks
Frequented lately with too many jerks?
Crossing my fingers that they will be gone
I still find myself wanting to log on
      Hoping to find my dear friends are still there;
Their company I do so much enjoy.
They make me laugh 'til I run out of air.
Feeling like a child with a brand new toy,
With my mind like a sponge craving its fill,
I must say each month is well worth the bill!

Friends Without Faces
(Author Unknown)

We sit and we type and we stare at our screens
We all have to wonder what this possibly means.
With our mouse, we roam through the rooms in a maze
Looking for something or someone as we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other, we type all our woes
Small groups we do form and gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody to type out our name
We want recognition but it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs and sometimes flirt
In IMs we chat deeply and reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships but why we don't know
But some of these friendships will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen we can be so bold
Telling our secrets that have never been told.
Why is it we share the thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see as though we were blind.
The answer is simple, it is as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems and need someone to tell...
We can't tell real people but tell someone we must
So we turn to the puter and to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy the truth still remains
They are Friends Without Faces and odd little names.
