The Boys Brigade is a worldwide Christian uniformed youth organisation for boys and young men aged between 5 and 18. It is the largest organisation of its type in the world today. It started on 4th October 1883 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Caters for all ages

The Boys Brigade caters for boys aged 5-18 by providing 3 different programs

  1. Anchor Boys 5-7 Year Olds
  2. No.1 Section 8-11 Year Olds
  3. No.2 Section 12-18 Year Olds

A Structured Program

The Boys Brigade runs on a four sided program which aims at all-round development of each boy. The four sides to the program are

  1. Educational
  2. Physical
  3. Spiritual
  4. Social

The Object of The Boys Brigade

"The Advancement of Christ's Kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian Manliness."

Award Schemes

Boys are able to earn badges when they learn different skills. Starting from a simple scheme, the awards program develops into a much wider range of work and skills, including such challenges as the Duke of Edinburghs Award Scheme. The highest award the Brigade offers is the Queens Badge.

Leadership Training

In No.2 Section, young men have the oppurtunity to develop leadership skills through varoius camps which are held each year and also has part of the normal company activities.

Why Do We have a Uniform

The Boys Brigade believes that the uniform encourages a sense of responsibility and belonging, and helps to create and maintain discipline and self respect. It prevents barriers which can arise because of varying economic and social backgrounds
