Pam and I got into a bit of a fight this morning. I
don't think it is fair to get into the details of what we talked about, but
we were both pretty upset. For a while I considered leaving, though I
wanted to talk things out. I didn't want to cause her to become more upset,
but at the same time, I didn't want to leave when she was upset.
We drove eastbound the 520 bridge in my car. The traffic was typical for a Saturday evening, which is fairly dense, but not congested. I was driving keeping my usual distance between my car and the car immediately in front of me you know, the one second rule. As we were nearing the end of the bridge I noticed there was a muffler sitting on the road near the inner lane. From the little I saw of this muffler, it seems as though it had been severed pretty cleanly. I briefly wondered what it would be like to have your muffler fall off while driving at highway speeds. I can only imagine that it would be a bit disquieting. Dinner at Shamiana was wonderful as usual. Pam and I had noted that we had always had different tables when we dine here. Fortunately, we have always managed to sit beside each other. I'll admit that I enjoy sitting beside her. It is easier for me to lean over and kiss her, hold her hand, etc. However, unlike Pam, I don't get distressed when we don't sit next to each other. I could keep telling you that the food is wonderful at Shamiana but really what's the point. If you live in the area, and are not phobic of foreign food, I urge you to try it. You will either enjoy it immensely or have really bad taste. And if you don't live in the area, let me take this opportunity to mock you and let you know what a simply exquisite meal you happen to be missing. [Nah Nah ] We went back to my place shortly after that. Mostly to feed Magic. Magic seemed to be in particularly good spirits today. You never can tell with cats. While I did a number of quick things in my computer room, mostly looking for a clean Zip disk for Pam, but also transfering some files back and forth. One of Pam's VCR seemed to be acting up as well, so I brought my video head cleaner along to see of that might help. When I asked her how long it had been since she last cleaned her VCR, she responded with, "Never, why? How often are you supposed to clean them?" She's had it since the early 80's, I'm sure it supposed to be more frequently than that. We then went back to her place. I cleaned her VCR and hoped that would clear up the problems. For the time being, we simply watched video tapes on her VCR in the living room. As it so happens, it didn't clear up the problems with her VCR. It not so much that it doesn't work, but I'm sure it is not supposed to have a black and white picture that jitters. I suppose that I can't fix everything. May 13, 2000 |
