1997: The Year So Far...

November. Blah blah Spice Girls blah blah blah Candle in the Wind blah. Criminal record of the month, nay year(!), you will doubtless agree has to go to the atrocious Barbie Girl by current world-wide hit monsters Aqua.
Much more inspiring was this months surprise package Natalie Imbruglia , seemingly not forgotten since her stint in Neighbours a while ago. Unlike most of the actor/actresses turned pop-star situations though, her single Torn is a brilliant indie/pop song instead of the usual hit factory b0ll0cks.
Sadly his was also the month Bill Berry quit REM (see the News section). But it doesn't do to dwell on these things. On the 22nd Michael Hutchence was found dead in his hotel room in Sydney (in true rock star fashion), having apparently hung himself. No drugs connection as yet but hey, we wouldn't be surprised. I never liked him but it's sad all the same.
Teenage Fanclub beam in the sunshine by releasing my personal favourite from the album Start Again. To my knowledge it's sold at least two copies so far. It'll be a long long way from the dizzy hieghts of #16 that they enjoyed not so long ago. Funny that...
Kylie Minogue's new single Did it Again is fantastic, as is the video. Go out and buy it!
