KARDINAL OFFISHALL VIDEO INFO
A few weeks ago we mentioned that Little X might have shot a video
for Canadian rapper Kardinal Offishall in late-February.
Kardinal was on the Radio One Rap Show (in NY) last week, and
premiered his new song Bellydancer (featuring Pharrell
Williams), saying a new Little X-directed clip for that track would be
released in a few weeks.

LITTLE X PART OF PANEL DISCUSSION AT HARVARD |
BILLY IDOL IKEA COMMERCIAL LINK (!)
Little X participated in a panel discussion that opened the Black
Arts Festival at Harvard University on February 28.
The discussion topic was "Whose Music Is It Anyway?
Thinking About Jazz, Rock 'n' Roll, and Hip-Hop - Past, Present and
Future", a discussion on how white artists have copied music
that's sprung from Black culture. The discussion panel included
music industry leaders such as MTV personality Ananda Lewis, Avatar
Records president Larry Robinson, music video director Little X, and
Vanessa Jones (a pop culture and lifestyles reporter for The Boston
Globe.

I mentioned back in early 2002 that
Little X had shot a commercial for Ikea which featured 80's
rocker Billy Idol, that aired only in Germany. The German
Ikea website has
recently re-posted the commercial on their website in Quicktime
format, and it is DEFINITELY worth a look. The theme of the ad
campaign was to "try something different", and included a
commercial which featured LL Cool J singing country music (that clip
was not directed by Little X). The Billy Idol clip, which was
shot to look like a rap video, features the aging rocker rapping
against a very "Little X"-like background, complete with the
motorcycle, the sports car, several video girls, and the bling-bling.

As with previous episodes of Access Granted, a half-hour
behind-the-scenes look at the making of the video is presented,
followed by the actual video itself. This is not the actual
"world premiere" of the video, as the video has been
recently posted on the official Dru Hill website at druhill.net

Little X was featured on the syndicated
television show Weekend Vibe twice in the past few weeks.
The show is an extension of the urban culture magazine Vibe.
The first time X was featured was about 2-3 weeks ago, when they
interviewed him on the New York set of his new Reebok
commercial. Last weekend they featured him in a segment focusing
on hip-hop video directors, which also included interviews with Chris
Robinson, Hype Williams, and Sanaa Hamri. For that feature, they
interviewed Little X on the set of his Jay Z video Excuse Me Miss.
The directors discussed such topics as their beginnings in videos,
video budgets, main elements while they're filming, etc.

| SEAN PAUL & WAYNE WONDER VIDEOS PREMIERE
I've been out of town for the past week, so I wasn't able to
update the site with all the new Little X projects that have been
going on in the past few weeks. Thanks to JB, Kevin L.,
ladytexas, pnayj., Jason D., computwu, Julien R. for the following news:
Little X shot a new Jay Z video,
Excuse Me Miss, in New Jersey & New York City over
the weekend of January 18-19. MTV.com
reports that members of the Roc-A-Fella camp show up in the video
wearing suits, as does mega-producer Pharrell Williams. The
following is an account of a fan's experience on the set of the video
shoot (thanks to Latesha Williams for sharing her experience):
"Jay-Z and His Fan Club Fan Family Invite Fans to Video Shoot"
by Latesha Williams
On a brisk January 18th, 2003 evening Fan Family, Inc., Jay-Z's official fan club, set up a chance for fans to meet Jay Z on the video set of "Excuse Me Miss" video in New York. Creative Director Latesha Williams and Media Coordinator Precious Abbennsetts arranged and accompanied the three members of the Jay-z fan club to witness the magic of video making. The three members, NJ Native Gia Sinclair, Bronx native Aisha Marshall and Queens native Joyce Wilson were picked from over fifty paid members of the
Jay-Z fan club to attend this event. First the girls got a chance to see video wizard Little X work his magic setting up scenes and finalizing every detail down to the wardrobe, hair and makeup of the video girls. Being such a big Little X fan myself when
I found out about this video shoot I was excited to see him do his thing up close and personal. When
I got the introduction to Little X on day one of the video shoot I was extremely surprised at how humble and courteous he was.
"Excuse Me Miss" is the second single to three times platinum Blueprint 2: The Gift and Curse. The video synopsis of the video is
Jay-Z sees a girl at an upscale party, they get in an elevator together and suddenly they both envision what it would be like dating. They envision dates on a helicopter, coming off of vacation to a selection of exotic cars and even envision her friends begging her not to date a guy like Jay-z who's known for having many women. The two day shoot began in Teterboro, NJ at a private airport and ended with a party scene in Novotel Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. In addition to hanging out on the video set, meeting video girls and meeting the legendary director the members also got to meet
Jay-Z in his ROCAWEAR bathrobe and in between wardrobe changes. EVERY girls dream!! In a hotel that was filled with Roc-A-fella and Def Jam executives Gia Sinclair, Joyce Wilson, and Aisha Marshall were able to meet and take snapshots with Beanie Siegal, Sparks, Memphis Bleek, State Property and CEO Damon Dash who gave the fans Rocafella promotional cd's while being accompanied by his beautiful daughter Eva, as she played with daddy and brother Boogie during all the festivities. "Despite the hectic situation of being at a video shoot, we at
Fan Fam try our hardest to bring the fans closer to their favorite artist. Fan Family tries to give our members (the fans) a opportunity to meet the heroes, and we felt that this experience would mean more since they can witness the making of video", said creative director Latesha Williams.
X was also in New York the previous
week (January 13-14) to shoot a new Reebok commercial.
The new videos for Sean Paul's Get
Busy and Wayne Wonder's No Letting Go have
premiered. Sean Paul's Get Busy video, shot
early-December 2002 in Toronto, premiered last Friday in the U.S. and
Saturday on Canada's MuchVibe.
A streaming version can also be seen at Launch.com.
As previously reported, the concept of the video is a house-party,
with the performance taking place in the basement. The video
features a cameo by Canadian rapper Kardinall Offishall (who also
appears in the Clipse's Ma I Don't Love Her video).
Towards the end of the video, the track switches to Sean Paul's Like
Glue. Wayne Wonder's No Letting Go video
premiered last Friday on BET's
106 & Park.

X SHOOTS WAYNE WONDER VIDEO IN JAMAICA
Electronic Urban Report (EURweb.com)
reported earlier this week that Little X was in Jamaica last week to
shoot a new video for reggae singer Wayne Wonder. The
video for No Letting Go was shot on location at Reggae
Beach and the Drax Hall Estate, both located in the St. Ann area of
Jamaica. Yesterday, the website posted a second report from the
set of the video shoot, including an interview with director Little X.

(December 31, 2002 -
January 1, 2003) 2002 YEAR-END REVIEW
As Hype Williams & Paul Hunter slowed down their video work to
focus on other projects this year, Little X got busier and
busier. Directing no less than 20 videos this year, 2002 is the
year that Little X made the big leap to being a household name in the
music video industry. He directed such hits as Hot In Herre
(Nelly), Gimme The Light (Sean Paul), Gangsta Lovin' (Eve & Alicia
Keys), and U Don't Have To Call (Usher). He also co-directed and
edited Boyz II Men's The Color of Love with directors Hype Williams,
Benny Boom, & Chris Robinson (the first time 4 video directors
have collaborated on a music video). My personal favorites this
year are Gimme The Light (Sean Paul), Gotta Get Thru This (Daniel
Bedingfield), & U-Turn (Usher). My least favorite was
Round
Up (Lady May).
