Nominations for the 2007 MTV Video
Music Awards were announced early last week, and the Paul Hunter-directed video
My Love (Justin Timberlake) walked
away with a single nomination: Best Choreography
(choreographer:
Marty Kudelka. The MTV Video Music Awards are set to air on MTV on
Sunday, September 9 at 9pm.
Paul Hunter won an award at the 16th Annual MVPA (Music Video Production Association) Awards on May 16, for Best Direction of a Male Artist, for his Justin Timberlake video My Love. The video was also nominated in the Best Choreography category (with the nomination going to choreographer Marty Kudelka).
Paul Hunter has shot a new commercial for
Burger King, promoting its new late hours (locations are open
'til Midnight or later). The clip, entitled "CEO to CEO",
stars Sean "P-Diddy" Combs as its new "Late Night Ambassador".
The commercial began airing on June 1.
The official
HSI
Productions website has also posted a clip for a new Paul
Hunter-directed Nike commercial. The clip, entitled
Breath, features a slew of athletes from various sports
training (in close proximity to each other) within a
futuristic-looking indoor field within an all-black dome. The
premise of the video has the athletes all breathing to a 'beat', quite
similar to Paul's 2001 Nike Freestyle commercial. The commercial
features tennis players Rafael Nadal & Roger Federer, basketball
players Kobe Bryant & Lebron James, soccer player Ronaldinho, some
Kenyan long-distance runners, karate players, among others. The
interesting thing is that the footage of the athletes were all shot
separately; none of them actually had any interaction with each other.
According to an article in
ShootOnline,
footage of each athlete was combined in post-production, making for an
extremely special-effects-heavy process.
HSI Productions
re-launched its website with a new layout a few months ago.
The Paul Hunter Music Videos section now includes full Quicktime video clips for the following music videos:
Hmmm... Paul Hunter's been a bit low-key in 2006. But of the 6 or so videos he's done, many have been pretty high-profile. There's the Mariah Carey & Pharrell Williams video Say Somethin' (shot on-location at the Louis Vutton store in Paris), the Mary J. Blige/U2 collabration of the U2 remake One, and the current smash Justin Timberlake video My Love. My personal favorite is the Justin Timberlake video (perhaps my favorite video of the year), while my least favorite would have to be Idlewild Blue by Outkast (the video does absolutely nothing for me). Aside from his video work, Paul Hunter has been pretty busy with his commercial work. He did several commercials including ones for Burger King, JC Penney, and the heavily-played Diet Coke "Roller Girl" commercial (which may have actually premiered in 2005, but was still going strong thru 2006). No word on any future projects for 2007. |
