commercials for Burger King, for a promotion they're doing with
AOL where customers can download free songs from AOL using a
code printed on burger wrappers. The pair of commercials,

parodies of cheezy 70's music compilation CD infomercials featuring
funk tracks and R&B slow jams.

(January 26, 2005) X INTERESTED IN DIRECTING NEXT USHER/LIL'JON
VIDEO
MTV.com reports that
Little X is interested in directing the upcoming Lil' Jon & Usher
video Lovers and Friends. The track, currently the
number #3 single on
Billboard, has
climbed the charts despite not having a video airing on MTV. The
article states that Little X has expressed interest in doing the video
for the track, and already has some ideas on how the video will go:
"I'm about lyrics, and when I listen to
the song I see that story kinda unfolding for everybody," X said.
"Although, I'm not sure if I want to put Lil Jon in a bathtub. I just
see the lyrics coming to life and surrounding it with a different
style — a setting you won't forget. I see a whole group of leading
ladies."

|
X ON VH1 SHOW
Did you all catch the Little X-directed Usher 20+ minute
Caught Up: The Movie which aired on
Fox on New Years
Eve, or the subsequent airings on
MTV and
BET? The
project also spawned the video Caught Up (one of the 4 tracks
from the mini-movie; the clip was isolated as a video of its own,
airing on MTV and BET). If you were like me, and didn't get a
chance to watch it yet, the project is being released on DVD in
February. According to a post on
usheronline.net,
Rhythm City, Volume 1: Money Power, Respect will be released by
LaFace Records on February 8 (Amazon.com
lists February 15 as the release date). The DVD will contain the
20+ min. mini movie, a "Making Of..." featurette, as well as the
videos for Usher's most recent hits Burn, Yeah!
(also directed by Little X), My Boo, Confessions Part II,
and Caught Up. The DVD package comes with a bonus
CD with 3 bonus tracks, and has a suggested retail price of $19.98.
Little X appeared on a
VH1 show over the
New Years Eve weekend. X appeared on the show My Coolest
Years, which interviews celebrities about their high school years,
through culture, fashion, and music. X appeared on the episode
entitled My Coolest Years: B-Boys and B-Girls, talking about
the posters on his wall, his drawings, and even showed a picture of
him as a kid with braids. Fellow directors Benny Boom and Dave
Meyers also appeared on the episode to share their experiences.

(December 31, 2004 - January 17, 2005)
2004 YEAR REVIEW
2004 was a busy year for Little X. X directed about 17
videos this year, including notable ones for Usher featuring Ludacris
& Lil' Jon (Yeah!, the biggest single of 2004),
Nelly & Christina Aguilera (Tilt Ya Head Back),
John Mayer (Clarity), and a pair of videos for new
Canadian R&B singer Keshia Chante (Bad Boy &
Does He Love Me). My favorites this year include the
videos Not For All The Love In The World by The Thrills,
Trick Me by Kelis, and Ghetto by
Akon. My least favorites were Tilt Ya Head Back
by Nelly & Christina Aguilera and U Saved Me by
R. Kelly. In addition to those videos, he also directed a
handful of commercials for Reebok, Guinness (beer), and a
pair of great clips for JC Penney. X's most ambitious
project of 2004 was probably the mini-movie, Rhythm City, Volume 1
(or Caught Up: The Movie, as it has been referred to in some
sources),
for Usher. At an estimated cost of $2.2million, the 20
minute short film included 4 musical tracks, a host of celebrity cameos,
and lots of dancing. No word on upcoming projects for Little X,
but much luck to him in 2005.
