Dorothy Esther Harris Maulfrom Lynn, Nikki, & Josie... Josie Kreuzer was born into the steel grey snowswept Canadian bordertown of Buffalo, New York. She was blessed to bop into this town on a warm 4th of June...It is reported that her artist teenage mother, proudly took her straight from the hospital to the "Allentown Art Festival"--Buffalo's biggest outdoor art show--when she was only 3 days old! It was these impressions that shaped Josie's early reality--continual exposure to art and music--that started her painting and writing songs at a very early age. Her talents resulted in a visual and performing arts school education... Another major influence on Josie's songwriting must've come when her mother moved them to New Orleans' magical musical French Quarter. As a teenager she worked at Tower Records and quickly became an oldies buyer which exposed her to a lot of rockabilly roots music. Cajun, country, and Dixieland jazz of New Orleans, the early rock n roll, and her mama's blues collection...it wasn't long before Josie found herself writing her own rockabilly songs. She also got the urge to "cruise" on out of Nawlins, packed her guitar and headed out to the hills of San Francisco, then the hill country of Austin, before settling down in Los Angeles... ...Here she started an all girl rockabilly band called "Whistlebait" in LA...they were a big hit but there were musical differences which made Josie decide to go it on her own... Since then Josie has been performing solo, primarily in LA and San Diego where she currently resides (she's lived on borders north n south now!)...the release of her cd "Hot Rod Girl" last spring was a success--she played England's biggest rockabilly fest-- Hemsby and this past summer a tri-state tour- PA, NJ, & NY coupled her with Wayne "the train" Hancock...1998 was a big year for Josie! She hit the road on her first US tour! Beginning in January, she played round California, in La at the annual Elvis birthday bash at House of Blues... Then it was off to Portland & Seattle with Paul Burlison & Rocky Burnette. Her first big tour came in the spring when Josie hit about 30 states coast to coast with her own band Sun 209, to race reviews! Her summer tour went through the southwest during record breaking HEAT with Hot Rod Lincoln then up to Nashville where she played WRVUwebradio show & the legendary Bluebird Cafe. Other summer highlights were Rockabilly Rebel Weekender #6 in Indiana and a pigroast and webradio show in Illinois! You can read about it in Josie's own ROAD JOURNAL, The Lost Highway!center> ...............1998 TOUR NEWS ARCHIVES..................... She hopes her grandma will be well enough to see her show when she comes to Buffalo on her tour Apr.17 but if she's not, Josie is quoted as saying,"I'll come to wherever Grandma is to sing for her!" that's what a sweet gal Josie is! 2/28/98 UPDATE- Josie's grandma is still very ill and hospitalized. Josie is trying to keep her mind on her tour which kicks off next week in Las Vegas... 3/5/98...UPDATE- Josie leaves for Las Vegas tomorrow to kick off her tour. Josie and her grandma spent several hours together the next day at the hospital where Josie sang her 3 acoustic songs. 6/10/98 R.I.P. Dorothy Esther Harris has joined Robert Edward Maul... She could've had a singing career but she raised a family instead.(She gave Josie all her old Elvis records)..............Josie's grandparents, Bob & Dot Maul, June 4, 1937, engaged to be married at the time.
