This picture is from a cd in 1996... AMERICAN RUMBLE vol.1, Shizmatic Records, 1996, a rockabilly compilation with Josie singing "Wildman." WHAT they're saying .....the PRESS Quotes...."She's HOT!" "--the sexy, sultry voice of San Diego songstress Josie Kreuzer simmered, sighed and smoked its way into my smiling skull. If Sun era Johnny Cash could have taken female form, it would have been hers. Josie has struck it out on her own, bringing her acoustic guitar, Marilyn Monroe-like good looks and authentic rockabilly stylings to the burgeoning Americana movement. In a completely fair world she would have already amassed considerable air time on commercial country radio, but FM is far from a fair format. Swimming in the same waters as classic honky tonk sirens Patsy Cline, Wanda Jackson, and Janis Martin, Josie has the vocal talent, sex appeal, and music ability to snatch that "Rockabilly queen" tiara for her own golden brow." Del Villarreal Texas Jamboree/DJ "Go Cat Go" WCBN 88.3FM, Detroit "--Enter Josie Kreuzer, with the energy of a female teenage delinquent and a sultry singing voice that calls to mind Wanda Jackson and Patsy Cline. Kreuzer has made more than a dent on the modern rockabilly scene with her debut disc "Hot Rod Girl..." Rose Pratka The Morning Call "--Rockabilly is the main course served up by Kreuzer and her hopping band on their handsome outing. Formerly with the Los Angeles based all-girl rockabilly outfit Whistlebait, Kreuzer struck out on her own to make music on her own terms. The fruits of that breakaway are found on this hot pedal-to-the-floor platter of torrid licks and fireball singing. Hiccupping and growling her way through souped-up songs about roadsters, runaway trains, wildmen and honey pies among other things, and equipped with stop-the-clock good looks to boot, Kreuzer is all dame on "Hot Rod Girl..." Dan Ferguson The Narragansett Times Let's hear Josie sing! Hit da juke! "WildMan" from her cd, HOT ROD GIRL... Buy it here! "Hot Rod" Girl" Josie Kreuzer, She-Devil Records... "--many hot rockin tracks by this realgone cool cool cool gal. My faves are:"Long Dark Night" a little bit reminiscent of Gene Vincent's "Wildcat." "So-called Boyfriend" has that haunting, fast moving feel while "You're Not Doin Me Right" is a hillbilly swinger featuring the fiddle of Dennis Caplinger." "One Way Love" is a slow melody "Twin Peaks" type tune. It moves me. 12 tracks total. Buy it!" --RockinRonny Weisser Rollin Rock Records "--Hot Rod Girl" is a near perfect cd. From start to finish this is a cold shot of high energy rockabilly/hillbilly music. One is immediately impressed with Josie Kreuzer's distinctive voice. The way Josie sneers, purrs and growls immediately gives "Hot Rod Girl" its own individual stamp. Remember back in the 50's, ministers and teachers were always preaching to parents about the sexual drive of the rockabilly rhythms of Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis? Josie Kreuzer is making the same kind of sounds our parents warned us about." Chip Lamey Roadhouse Fever WLFR 91.7FM Stone Harbor, NJ "--The sizzling hot "Hot Rod Girl" showcases the rockabilly filly's Sister-Rose-Maddox-ish vocals and inspired songwriting. Tight rhythms and blazing guitar pump through songs such as "Honey Pie," Eyes of Whiskey" and "Ball That Jack" like nitro through a souped-up 51 Mercury." Big Paul Erwin Nash! Magazine "Hot Rod Girl" is singer/songwriter/guitaress Josie Kreuzer's first effort. Based in San Diego, she has been playing mostly west coast clubs in San Diego and LA, recently as far north as Seattle & Portland. Rockabilly, psychobilly and surf have exploded on the scene in S. California and is spreading like a wildfire throughout the world. Newcomer Josie Kreuzer is about to embark on her first tour March 7, 98 in Vegas with her band, Sun 209. She'll visit 16 states, 26 cities in 2 months. This is your chance to pick up her cd and then catch a show and see what this new BopGirl is about!!! Listen to "Wild Man" and you feel like you're back in the 50's but it ain't about pony tails, happy days and soda shops. This is the manic-depressive side of greasers, hot rods and naughty girls in tight sweaters. Josie's styling is best described as a young Jerry Lee Lewis or Elvis before they sold his soul to the masses. You want to dance to this music, you want to scream n holler!!! The instrumentation reminds you of a Honky Tonk down in New Orleans when greasers rumbled on the waterfront. Josie belts out her vocals in purrs n growls that defy mere adjectives. Her voice is being compared to Wanda Jackson, her looks to Marilyn Monroe: 50's chicks, but there is no one like Josie today! Just when you can't jump, holler & dance anymore, who walks in? Your old flame with a new babe... Don't worry Josie's got that covered too, the album's loaded with heartbreak but it is gutsy blues with an attitude.
