"VICTORIA (DISASTROUS REPRISE)"
Synopsis: Not a takeoff of the Ben Stiller/Cameron Diaz flick. Vic performs as Victoria Masters, an ersatz Sixties girl singer who goes from rags to ruins in record time. This is the first show where an original song was written and recorded specifically for a Cabaret Revoltaire show. The tracks was performed by Vic and Les Payne Product at the group's studio on Wednesday, August 19 of that week. "In History" appeared here with a slight title change but is otherwise the same song Vic performed with the Holiday Slides back in NYC.The photos used on the Playbill and in the show are doctored up photos of Dusty Springfield. For the Hollywood Alley show, Vic added another track recorded witrh Les Payne, "YOU KEEP DESTROYING MY MIND". The Victoria reprise was done live while Vicky got pelted by cabbage. Also scheduled for the longer show but not performed due to time restrictions was "24 Hours From Tulsa". It absecnce makes it a completely Vic penned show.
VIC's Original Playbill Comments: "What can you say about Victoria Masters that hasn't already been written in Braille? That she turned the world of music on its ear so we would be forced to listen to mono until the end of time? That it was the glint in her eye that forced us to take a good hard look at ourselves? That she had it all and pissed it away accordingly? Yeah, you can say all that and say this too-Victoria Masters was always an original. Even in her Greenwich Village coffehouse days there was something about Vicky, this unassuming deb and her guitar, that set her apart from all the others. For here was a girl destined for Great Neck. Tonight we bring you the Victoria Masters story. Special thanks to the B-Cups and the folks at Lush Budget for taking part in HERSTORY! If America's Sweetheart of Song were writing this dedication, she'd send you her undying love but she ain't so take it from me, Vic Masters."
